Dear Community Professional,
This year Parshat Mishpatim falls on February 10, 2018. In Parshat Mishpatim we read:
If you lend money to My people, to the needy among you, do not act toward them as a creditor: Exact no interest from them. (Exodus 22:24)
This is the mission statement behind the Hebrew Free Loan Association of Greater Washington (HFLAGW) since its founding in 1909. Every dollar to HFLAGW is in effect a dollar in perpetuity. We have a 99.9% repayment rate and so the money donated today is recycled into new loans over and over again.
This year we are piloting Project Mishpatim. It is a concerted effort to raise money for the HFLAGW and to raise awareness of our work and our mission.
We ask for your community’s participation in one or more of the following ways

Please consider delivering a sermon the weekend of February 10th on this all-important commandment and the ways in which HFLAGW is available to our community.

Please call Deborah Reichmann and to have a HFLAGW staff or board member come speak to your community.

Please include information about Project Mishpatim in your weekly newsletter* on the week of February 10, including the link to donate https://hebrewfreeloandc.org/donate/

If you have a Sunday school or preschool associated with your synagogue, please consider making this a winter tzedakah project as a way to help raise money for HFLA and to educate the next generation regarding community support.
