Church Reunion ~ Sunday, January 28

Celebrating our rich history and looking toward our bright future ...

Join us for a fun day of catching up with old friends and fellowshipping with new ones. We’ll have a combined choir (former & current members), a special time of worship, a fellowship lunch after worship (bring a side dish or dessert to share - the church will provide meat & drinks), and a beautiful historical display of old documents and memorabilia. Day of Service
Monday, January 15 | 9am - 12pm

Wear your work clothes, and come help us spruce up our buildings. We plan to work in the morning beginning at 9:00am and end by having lunch together. There will be projects for all levels of ability – cleaning out the third floor to create a play space for our preschool, cleaning the kitchen, dusting and polishing the sanctuary, cleaning out around Avondale Samaritan Place, and more!

Saving Grace

Saving Grace is a monthly supper gathering for young(ish) adults. It doesn’t matter if you’re single or a couple, all are welcome. January’s Saving Grace gathering on Friday, January 12, is sure to be a blast as we welcome our children to join in on the fun. This month we will be meeting from 6-9pm at the home of Staci Abernathy. We’ll enjoy pizza and conversation together. If you need more information or are interested in joining us for Saving Grace, contact Randi Turner.

Financial Update

The church ended 2017 with a deficit of $11,289.06. That will be incorporated into our 2018 budget as we seek to cut our expenses and find new revenue sources in the coming year. Thank you to so many of you who contributed to the church throughout 2017 and who helped us in the final days of December to greatly decrease our shortfall.

for Supporting our Children's Christmas Mission

Our children challenged you, and you stepped up in a big show of support for them. Because of their awesome fundraising skills (who can say “no” to those sweet faces?!) and your amazing generosity, our children raised $640 to support Two by Two Animal Rescue. They decorated their own individual money collection jars, did extra chores, went door to door, held a bake sale at church, collected quarters and other forms of cash in worship each week, and more to earn money for their charity. Your support of our children helped them to learn the importance of giving back at Christmas. THANK YOU! They’ll be shopping for animal items on January 7 and afterward will meet some of the furry foster friends as they present their donation to the leaders of Two by Two Animal Rescue.

Farewell Luncheon
Sunday, January 21

Join us in celebrating Nathan Smock and his ministry as our Organist and Director of Music Ministry. After much thought, prayer, and discussion, he's made the difficult decision to move closer to family. This move will enable him to be more present and more useful than his current situation in Birmingham allows. He will be missed!

Please bring a side dish, casserole, or dessert to share as we honor and recognize his contributions to our congregation over the past five years.
