New Years Resolutions for Nonprofit Professionals

Many of us consider New Year's resolutions as personal goals, but there's no reason these resolutions can't be extended to your professional life. This classic article outlines some common resolutions for nonprofits as we start 2018. Some of the resolutions that will hit home for STO professionals follow:
  • Resolve to call and personally thank 10 donors a month
  • Invite someone at another STO or local nonprofit to coffee
  • Resolve to read four books this year on fundraising or the nonprofit sector
  • Schedule one-on-one meetings with a few board members who you think could be helpful in fundraising, asking for ideas and connections
  • Set work limits. For a healthy work-life balance, you can't always be on call

Senate President Willing to Consider Cap on Corporate Tax Credit Contributions

The Arizona Senate President recently acknowledged that the 20 percent escalator in the corporate low-income tax credit maximum will someday exceed the totality of the corporate income tax. He also acknowledged that the natural limit might be here, as it took until December 2017 for corporations to meet the FY 2017/2018 limit. We will keep an eye on any pending legislation that will affect STOs and note any updates in this quarterly newsletter, although no bills have been moving forward yet.
