Blue Man Flying ...

is bits of tumbled glass glued to a a sheet of acrylic plexiglass.

See this and much more at the Reclaimed Room Gallery, housed within Building Resources, San Francisco's best art/salvage/scrap yard. The first show of 2018, Configurations, opens next Friday January 12, with a heartfelt and fun reception from 5-7pm. Come talk trash and technique,  meet the other talented artists Francesca Borgatta and Charles Foss, and get a glimpse of this unique eddy in the waste stream of our fair city. Click the link above for more information.

I've never worked with tumbled glass or acrylic before, so this has been a good challenge for me. The glass comes right from the yard, produced from salvaged vodka and wine bottles, and tempered glass windows and doors. Click here for more information about this glass...

For this show I'm also presenting some new furniture, small cafe-style tables, made with two materials very familiar to me - cardboard and cork.

The show will be up for the next two months. Building Resources is open seven days a week, 9am-4:30 pm.
701 Amador, San Francisco

I'm also planning to host a workshop at the gallery, while this show is up, and offer folks the chance to try some of these techniques. Look to a future mail chimp for more info.

Below are some studio photos of work for this show...and if you somehow want more images  I do instagram now, good grief, and you can check that out here ~ realcorkdork. I keep a website too ~ milesepstein.com. Thanks for looking!

Here's to new art and brave hearts as we enter 2018!

Washed and tumbled blue glass drying at Building Resources.
Sometimes I glue the glass bits down one at a time.
Sometimes I pour the glass bits directly atop a line of wet epoxy.
The results can be quite lovely.
Industrial cork sheeting is amazing. Got this remnant roll at Building Resources :)
Cardboard and cork love to be glued together. White glue works well.
Tablelegs (repurposed stair balustrades) get cork feet protection.
