We have been so inspired by the generosity of our supporters and the total commitment from all the foodbanks in the network and this only increases our resolve to fight hunger even more.
In the period leading up to Christmas, there was overwhelming support for people in our communities who are struggling to put food on the table. Hunger seems especially cruel over the Christmas period; a time we all tend to indulge a little more than usual.
Our supporters came out in amazing numbers to donate; whether through collections in schools and offices, the Tesco Food Collection or at other supermarket collection points, reverse advent calendars or directly to their local foodbank - the donations made a huge impact and we are so grateful for your support.
We were thrilled by the response to our Christmas campaign, which will help us continue our work across the country offering immediate support and long-term solutions to people facing a crisis.
The foodbanks in our network have seen an alarming increase in the number of people needing emergency food supplies and were faced with an extremely busy Christmas. They met this challenge with the compassion and dedication we see from them every day of the year. With the support of thousands of volunteers, they ensured outstanding service was delivered and for this, we offer them our heartfelt thanks.
Hunger is not an issue which will simply go away. With your continued support and commitment, we will be here for people facing crisis and develop long-term solutions which, one day, will end hunger for good.
