Executive Update

Winter has certainly been a winter this year, but your VCA Executive have not gone into hibernation.  A number of files have been opened, and activities involving the Village and the Town are underway.  Here’s a brief summary of what’s on the go:

  1. Parking Restrictions Community Engagement:  The Public Meetings on this topic are on again starting January 30, 2018 at the Community Centre.  All who can, should attend and have your voices heard.  The VCA Executive will be there to ask questions and listen to concerns of residents.  This will help formulate our formal response to Council.

  2. Randwood Estate Proposal:  The proposed change in the Zoning By-Law has generated a lot of interest in the Town.  A Public Open House is scheduled for January 25, 2018 at the Community Centre.  Again, we’ll be there to listen and learn.

  3. Phase V Street Light Diffusers:  The street lights in Phase V of the Village do not have diffusers (the glass globes in other areas of the Village).  A number of residents have asked that this be looked into, in an attempt to reduce glare in some bedrooms.  We’ll be visiting the Town to see how this can be dealt with.

  4. Questions were asked at the half yearly meeting about lighting on the pathway between Brock and the ravine, near where Brock turns into Colonel Butler Crescent.  We’re following up on that topic.

  5. The sale of the Parliament Oak school site continues to be an issue, we’re keeping an eye on that as well.  We’re just watching at this point, if things change we’ll let you know.

There have also been some concerns/questions about speed limits on Stone Road and Brock, as well as questions about the possibility of garbage cans in some of the parks.  Before we rush and ask for things to be done, we’re going to ask how it gets done, then we’ll be coming back to the membership for input on desirability and an explanation of how to proceed.
