COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES

Round Rock Chamber Seeks Nonprofit Organizations to Apply for the Leadership Round Rock 2018 Class Project

The class project is an annual event that engages participants of Leadership Round Rock to aid a local nonprofit in a current need. The Greater Round Rock Community Foundation will be coordinating the application process for the chamber.  All Williamson County nonprofits with an impact in the Round Rock community are encouraged to apply.

The goal of the class project is both to unite the participants in accomplishing a common goal as well as allow them to make their mark on the community by completing a service project for an outstanding organization.  This year Leadership Round Rock participants will be encouraged to move away from bricks and mortar projects.  Though all applications received will be presented to the class and it is their ultimate decision on what project is selected want to encourage applications that focus on a day of service or other non-construction related projects. Examples range from painting or yard work to a public awareness campaign or social media blitz as well as volunteers for a Gala, fundraiser or silent auction.

Please fill out the second page of the application and email it to: info@rrcommunityfoundation.org no later than February 1, 2018 for consideration.

Resolve to Reframe

Happy New Year Reframing Network! Last year, the Reframing Human Services Network saw tremendous progress in the number of organizations learning about and implementing the FrameWorks Institute’s human service reframing recommendations. As you consider your goals and strategies for 2018, we hope that each of you will recommit to reframing your communications. From the ways in which we describe our organizations’ missions and programs, to how we engage the public in our advocacy and fundraising campaigns, there is just so much potential to significantly increase support for our sector when we speak with a collective voice using the research-based Building Well-Being Narrative.

As for the National Reframing Initiative, they have recommit to developing practical tools and guidance that will make it easier for the sector to adopt the new narrative for human services. In addition to their ongoing exploration of FrameWorks’ findings and recommendations, here are some of the topics they'll dive into in 2018:
  • Getting Started. After trainings and workshops, they often hear that people are excited to start reframing, but are also a bit daunted by the idea. They'll provide tangible strategies for early implementation of reframing, including recommendations on communications to prioritize and how to address common roadblocks.

  • Sustainable Implementation. They'll look at specific steps organizations can take to fully integrate the recommendations into their communications, and they'll offer tips for sustaining reframing implementation over the long-haul.

  • Building Organizational and Stakeholder Support. They'll share strategies for building buy-in for reframing among key stakeholders, including board members, organizational leadership, coalition partners, and funders.

  • Reframing in the Real World. They'll continue to share examples of reframing that they collect from organizations across the country, and to develop sample messages for issues of particular relevance to the sector.
As always, they invite you to share your reframing successes, challenges, ideas, and questions with them throughout the year by contacting Bridget Gavaghan, Director of the National Reframing Initiative, at bgavaghan@nassembly.org.
