A little about my story....

Would you be surprised to hear that I didn't grow up wanting to be an artist?  Or that I'm self-taught?  Well both are true!  I've had an unconventional journey to where I am today.

Though I was always creative and crafty as a kid, I grew up wanting to be a park ranger.  I LOVED being outdoors, I loved exploring nature and had parents that loved to travel when they weren't working hard factory jobs in Connecticut.  Whenever they could escape work, we went camping.  We camped everywhere and nearly every weekend from spring thru fall and it cemented my passion for nature, travel and exploration.

But you know how it goes, you often choose (or get pressured) to take the more "stable" path.  As such, I bounced around from major to major in college, went to grad school for something entirely different, then shifted from one career path to another in adulthood.  I was always feeling unsettled, unfulfilled and stressed out.   At the age of 35, I took a leap of faith and quit my road warrior corporate job to begin an eco-friendly business (selling paper goods and ephemera, including recycled cards of my photography) and eventually an eco-paper supplies business that my husband now runs.

Fascinated by mixed media artwork, I decided to watch online videos in drawing and collage in 2010 and I was hooked.  Though I didn't grow up wanting to be an artist, I know now more than ever, it's all I want to be.
Some themes you'll notice in my artwork are an appreciation for simpler times and a bygone era, through my photos of barns and old buildings or use of antique letters, vintage photos and aged ephemera.  You'll also see I have a fascination with the mountains (after having lived in Colorado for 10+ years) and long to return back to the West.  My color palette is soft and earth toned, sometimes dark and moody.  I'm all about slowing down, observing what's around me and having appreciation for what's here and what came before.  I'm an old soul and I hope my work reads the same.
Looking forward to sharing more with you; thanks again and welcome!
