Meeting in Glasgow

IAEH members and guests met in Glasgow on November 29th.
IAEH meeting in Glasgow

The last IAEH meeting of 2017 took place in Glasgow, UK, on November 29th. In total, 12 member organisations were represented.

Members and guests received an update on the current activities and discussed projects for 2018. New members, potential partnerships, new resources and the 2018 calendar of meetings were on the agenda.

The key outcomes of the meeting include the approval of a partnership with Sportcal and confirmation of the 2018 Annual Forum's date. 

A calendar of events that our members are involved in hosting in 2018 was circulated along with the meeting minutes, on December 15th. If you have not received a copy and would like one, please contact olga@eventshosts.org.
 

IAEH + Sportcal

IAEH is working with Sportcal to establish standard definitions for measurement of impacts.
IAEH + Sportcal

A three-year agreement was signed between IAEH and SportCal on 12th December 2017 following discussion and agreement by members at IAEH meetings in Montreal and in Glasgow.

The project engages all stakeholders involved in sport events and aims to establish standard definitions for measurements across all areas of impact. IAEH members will participate in three working groups alongside members of ASOIF (Association of Summer Olympic International Federations) that will address the following pillars: 

  • Economic/Tourism
  • Media/Sponsorship
  • Social/Sustainability

IAEH Annual Forum

The 2018 Annual Forum will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on Monday, April 16th. Save the date!
A full day of activities is being planned for the 2018 IAEH Annual Forum. The official programme will be announced soon. There will be a general meeting of members and a session open for prospective members and other industry organisations.

New Member
The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau joined IAEH in January 2018.
TCEB Logo

Established by Royal Decree in 2002, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (also known as TCEB) is a public organisation tasked with promoting and developing business events in Thailand. 


TCEB is the IAEH's fourth member in Asia. Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia are also part of our network. Learn more about the TCEB here
OECD Workshop
The OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) invited IAEH members to join other stakeholders and participate in a meeting to discuss global events and local development.
The meeting took place in Paris, on January 15th. The purpose was to gather a variety of stakeholders and experts to advise on the content of the proposed draft Recommendation on Global Events and Local Development. 

IAEH was represented by four of its members who shared the room representatives of organisations such as the IOC, FIFA and the Sports Ministry of France. The meeting was an unique opportunity for stakeholders to co-create new framework conditions for global events. The recommendations are due to be presented to the OECD Ministerial Council meeting in June 2018 attended by its 35 country members.
