Dear Friends,

We are celebrating the progress of a former resident and her children as they recently moved out of shelter at Ruth's House and into their own apartment!  We are proud of her success and know that she has benefited from the support and tools gained during her time at Ruth's House.

If you haven't done so already, now is the time to get those Gala tickets for our upcoming Hearts Gala on February 10th!  Read on to learn about some of our auction items and visit https://ruthshousemn.org/gala/ for more info and *NEW* online ticket purchase option.

We are grateful for your support!

Sounding Hope

You are invited to sing with the St. Olaf Manitou Singers and join their performance, Sounding Hope, during a chapel service at Boe Chapel on campus on Sunday,  February 11th.  Women high school age and up, volunteers and supporters of Ruth's House, as well as current and former residents are invited!  No previous singing experience required.

The first rehearsal is Wednesday, January 17th from 3:15-4:15pm at St. Olaf.  It's not too late to join and you don't have to attend every rehearsal. To find out more details, please reply to this email

Volunteer Spotlight
Sue Rodman is our volunteer spotlight this month.  We are so happy that she dedicates some of her time and talents to Ruth's House!  Sue has jumped right in, whether it's helping out with childcare, joining the gala committee as our decorating lead, or signing up to sing with us and the St. Olaf Manitou Choir.  We love her positive, go get 'em attitude!

Sue writes: I am a newly retired elementary school teacher who finally has the freedom to travel, volunteer, and spend more time with my family.  I am thrilled to be able to visit my daughters and their families in Houston and Washington, D.C. Being available to be the “granny nanny” when needed is pure bliss. I am finally able to “tag along” when my husband travels to fun places like Florida during Minnesota winters.

As an educator my heart has always been dedicated to children and their families. The stability, comfort, and inclusiveness that Ruth’s House provides for women and their children are missions I value and continue to support.   I am very thankful to be a part of this wonderful organization.

Thank you, Sue!
