News and Announcements

Back in November, I sent out the final Tungsten Hippo Weekly digest. But November and December are busy months for a lot of people, so you may have missed the announcement that Tungsten Hippo is shutting down. I wanted to write one final email to make sure everyone sees the announcement, and gets a chance at the offer I'm including in it.

I've stopped posting new content to Tungsten Hippo, but I haven't stopped reading short writing, and I am still recommending short stories and other short writing, now on a new list that is an initiative connected with the Annorlunda Books publishing company I run.

The new list is called Inbox Stories. This newsletter will deliver two story recommendations to your inbox each month... and, if you sign up for the paid edition at $5/year, you'll also get the full text of a story each month. The stories will be a mix of classics and new writing published by Annorlunda Books. The recommendations might be short ebooks, online short stories, or a story from a collection.  Also, I realized I'd miss an outlet for my love of saving quotes from the things I read, so there will be a quote of the month, and probably occasional other short writing related content, too.

Here is the best part: Tungsten Hippo subscribers can get $2 off their subscription for the first year! To get the discount you must subscribe via this link. I am using a bare bones subscription management set up, so that I can keep the cost of the subscription low (and because I don't anticipate offering many discounts). This set up does not support coupon codes in the sign up form. Therefore you must use this special link to get the discount.

I hope you'll join me at Inbox Stories. The February story will be The Lilies of Dawn, by Vanessa Fogg, and with your discount link, your subscription to Inbox Stories will cost the same as just buying this ebook. What a deal! You'll get The Lilies of Dawn, plus another story every month.

Finally, it felt wrong to send out an email to the Tungsten Hippo mailing list without a story recommendation. So below, there is on final story recommendation, for a short ebook I read and enjoyed recently.

One Last Recommended Book

The Library of Lost Things, by Matthew Bright

This fascinating story imagines a library where lost books (and, as it turns out, other lost things) go, and the lives of the people who staff this library. The story focuses on a young man who shows up to become an archivist, and to tell much more would be to ruin some of the fun of the story. It is an enjoyable read!

Get it at Amazon, BN.com, or Kobo.
