Terry Curtis
WPS 40th Anniversary and Theme for 2018.

WireProcess Specialties is a second generation family business. It all started January 1978 with my father Jim Curtis turning the keys to his new office and opening the door to a journey that has spanned forty years. When WPS was formed, business was done a lot differently than it is today. Modern business tools like the cell phone, fax, computer, email and text messaging were several years in the future. We had two ways of communication: phone and face to face.

Thinking about processing methods, manual and bench top processing were the norm for the majority of companies. Automation was the domain of large companies with significant resources. And physical floor space. Machines were primarily mechanical and pneumatic requiring long set up time. Lot sizes were much larger.

Today, technology is largely digital, with programmable motions using closed loop servo motors. Quick set up with universal tooling and fixturing. The ability to run smaller volume lots make the investment in semi or full automation easier to justify for a larger cross section of companies.

We have had countless success stories over the past four decades. But our long track record of service is only the preparation for  where we are going in the future. We leads me to our theme for 2018 and beyond.
Helping Many to Achieve More.
We value our Global Technology Partners as they work to improve products within their individual area of expertise. Lots of evolutionary and revolutionary developments to come in the future. It will all be covered here.

Crimp Quality Solutions was launched last year as we consolidated our Crimp Technology products and service offerings. There has been a significant amount of interest in Crimp Quality Solutions. And we have only started. Watch right here for special programs designed to optimize your terminal crimp processes.Coming really soon.
Understanding Crimp Tool Setup Variability

In the past, set up of an applicator to crimp a terminal was a time consuming process. Applicators were often bolted into the crimp presses and a manual adjustment to the press ram was made in order to provide the proper pull test between the wire and the terminal. Companies would acquire a large quantity of crimp presses and most high volume applications were permanently fixed to a press to reduce set up time. But at a cost of facility floor space. This was also a time when run volumes of one application were larger and spanned days and often weeks. That was then.
