Art Hosts Needed

When the art show is open for free public viewing, we have hosts available to welcome our guests. No knowledge of art is necessary to be a host. Shifts are 1-3 p.m. or 3-5 p.m. on Saturdays (January 20, 27, and February 3). If you would like to help, contact Judy Edelblute at 858-278-0255 or judyedel8@gmail.com.

Did you know?

The youngest student in our current art show is a third grader, Gabriella DiProfio, daughter of Kris Nieder and Adam DiProfio. She entered a photo of her sister and a friend called "Strong Girls." Her sister, Diana DiProfio entered a photo entitled "Rainbow Diet."  We gave separate prizes for photos and digital art. The two winners are just inside the south door from the narthex into the sanctuary. The first place photo is by 10th grader Ethan Elisara, a member of Community United Methodist Church in Julian.  The first place digital art is by Marston 8th grader Lena Bauers.

You may vote for your favorite art work on any of the next three Sundays (January 20, 27, and February 3). You may bring your friends and neighbors to see the show the next three Saturdays (January 20, 27, and February 3), 1-5 pm.

Capital Improvements
By Jack Carpenter

In the recent Messenger Reverend Jeri gave a nice recap of the progress of the improvements. Two of our biggest cost outlays are the Education Building Stairs and the Tree Replacement and Landscaping of the front of the Church.

We need to give a big thank you to Bob Colbourn for donating his significant effort designing and producing the plans for the stairs. We also are grateful to contractor Kurt Miller for getting the stairs built during the holiday break under a tight schedule. As a result the Nursery School is back open.

We have seen two concept schemes from the landscape architect. The design puts emphasis on drought tolerant plants and water efficient irrigation.

Of the twelve items on the list of projects seven are now done.

That's the good news. So far the pledges have been coming in but we are spending ahead of the receipts. The Foundation has graciously agreed to loan us the money so we can keep going on the projects as fast and as efficiently as possible.

We appreciate that you are keeping your pledge commitments.
