Happy New Year!

Welcome to our new newsletter. If you have already received this newsletter, or if a friend received it before you did then please accept our apologies as we are using a new system!

This January we're looking different but still telling the stories and tales from our friends across the world.

We hope that you had a great time during this season of the year as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and we pray that you have a very prosperous new year.

As we go forth into the new year of 2018 we look back to see that a lot as happened this year for Chile for Christ. We saw Arnold step down as Director for Chile for Christ and Brenda step up to take on this role. We also saw new members join the team and we all hope that we can be a great success for you, our supporters, and also for those in Chile whom we support.

His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

A letter from the Director...

The last newsletter was very special as Arnold Page bid farewell to the supporters of Chile for Christ and stepped down from his position as our Director. I now find myself stepping into Arnold’s position as I have been appointed as Director of the charity and in this first newsletter in this position I would like to introduce myself. My name is Brenda Gooding. I am married to David and we have three children and nine grandchildren. David and I moved to live near Abergavenny in Wales when we retired but we had lived in High Wycombe not far from Arnold.

I was invited to become a trustee of Chile for Christ through my dear friend Geraldine, Arnold’s sister, who is also a trustee and I was honoured to join the small group of trustees. At the time I knew very little about Chile. I do not speak Spanish but with Arnold leading the trustees we were able to receive translations of communications from Chile. I became excited by the immense amount of work that such a small charity has been able to do through your donations and it is clear that Our Lord has been with us at all times. The prayer support that you give us is so important to us.

I had a dream (and not the one in the musical “Joseph”) that I could one day visit Chile and some of the dear people that we serve. It was quite an unrealistic dream as, with no Spanish and the people whom we support having no English, communication would be impossible. However Our God is powerful and my dream came true when Arnold and Ann decided to go on a cruise to celebrate their Golden wedding anniversary and we joined them on the cruise. I am sure that you read about the cruise in an earlier newsletter but I can only say that in some way it motivated me to become more involved with the people in Chile through Chile for Christ.

When we arrived at decision time about the future of Chile for Christ things looked very bleak. Arnold was to step down and it appeared that the charity was to close. However, as usual, Our God provides. We now have a gifted management team who are very excited to work towards expanding the work of the charity. I see my position as one where I will listen to God’s guidance and support and guide the rest of the team. It is such a privilege and I pray that God will give me the strength to do His work well. Living in the Brecon Beacons, I look out each morning from my lounge window across to the mountain on the other side of the river Usk and then I feel like singing Psalm 121.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Thank you for your support and I pray that God will bless you all as we move into this new era.

Brenda

What's been going on in Chile?

In the last few months, lots has been going on in Chile. Pastor Miguel Perez has launched the Under the Promise in September in Chile, and Gerd and Rosi Bergmann have opened up a flat for Pastors in Chile to retreat to which is becoming very successful and are preparing for their seminars for Pastors which is in February. We also celebrate this November with Ronny Pulgar on the 120th Anniversary of The Methodist church in Punta Arenas.
We are so thankful to hear from our friends in Chile, and we are thankful that through YOUR support, we are able to continue our support and work with them.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

The Transformation of the Cross and The Life of Jesus

The Bergmanns have two upcoming conferences in the new year. They have been put on in order to support various Pastors throughout Chile and the surrounding countries. It is great to hear that they are doing this work, it is so very important to support the Pastors of our world, as they are all in desperate need for retreat and refreshing in their lives.

We are very much looking forward to hearing about the Bergmanns success in the next few Pastors seminars in February. Please continue to pray for them as we support them in this work as they continue to show their support to Pastors up and down the country.

Celebrating 120 years!

It's great to hear about the success of the Methodist church in Punta Arenas and Tierra del Fuego. The new community in Tierra del Fuego is only small, consisting of only 18 people, however it amazing to hear about their stories. They are now looking forward to the installation of gas, electricity and water networks, alongside brand new equipment for their chapel and a new fence! We look forward to hearing more and more of their progress in this small project that makes a huge impact.

FOR THOSE THAT PRAY

We thank you so much for all the prayers and support you give to us at Chile for Christ, not only for the Chileans we support doing the work of Our Lord, but for all us at Chile for Christ as a team. Please continue to pray for us as we develop as a team and work out the logistics in how to best work together.

Continue your prayers for the ongoing projects in Chile and surrounding countries as they continue to spread the Good News of Christ and support those in the country of Chile that do the same.

Pray for the future events that our Chilean friends are planning in order to spread the Word in new and modern ways.

Praise God that we are able to continue our ongoing support to those in Chile, pray that God may reveal new projects and people that we can support in the country.
