WLC Brings Literacy Classes
to Maberry Farms!

In January, we began a class at Curt Maberry Farms in Lynden, who have been long-time supporters of the Whatcom Literacy Council.
This is an exciting new collaboration that lets employees attend an introductory English class twice a week at the beginning of their workday.  We have a large group of over 30 students, split into two groups for different skill levels.  So far, the class has been well received and we are excited to continue working together and providing support to learners throughout the county.

Foresters’ Insurance Group
Funds Library Materials

The Whatcom Literacy Council would like to thank the Foresters’ Insurance Group for their generous donation of just under $2,000 to pay for books and other materials for our small resource library.

This grant allows us to update some of our aging workbooks, to purchase some new titles, and to replace some of the very popular books that are showing their use.  Volunteers are able to borrow any of the books in the library for short periods of time to use with their learner, or to research a specific teaching tool or topic.

THANK YOU, Foresters’, for your ongoing support
of the Whatcom Literacy Council!
