MUSTO MELGES 24 AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The days are counting down (36 days, 21 hours at the time of writing) until the 2018 Melges 24 Australian Championships in Port Lincoln South Australia.

This year we are holding the regatta within the long-running Lincoln Week Regatta. This week attracts sailors from around the country to enjoy the on water racing on Boston Bay and the after racing socialising with daily crayfish and wine draws, a mid-week picnic on the sandy shores of the National Park and opportunity to enjoy the fantastic facilities of Australia's Seafood Frontier.

The travel to Lincoln is easy and we have allowed plenty of time for you to arrive and enjoy your trip from the Eastern Seaboard, West Coast or Adelaide. There's plenty for the family to do too!

Your entry will include racing, welcome night, return bus trip to Meggas BBQ, presentation night and wow - Musto regatta shirts for the crew. It's been a long time since we've been able to offer that and you're probably in need of new ones by now! Additional Melges 24 Australia branded merchandise will be available to order shortly too.

We do need entries though to make this happen, and while we know there are many of you planning to come, nominating now will help us tremendously. As organisers (and competitors ourselves) we want to enjoy the time too and spend it working on the logistics making it the best it can be rather than spend a lot of time chasing, begging and cajoling, when you know you need to do it anyway. We currently have at least 10 - 12 boats verbally confirmed.

As you know, strong attendance at regattas means we have a great time, but the investment value you have in your boats stays up there too which is important for our class.

All the information you require for the event is on our website and entries are on the Lincoln Week website. The direct link to entries is here. Check it out and get your nominations in!

Please note that Association Membership is also due prior to the event and we will be sending that information and be updating the website this week.

If there is anything we can do to help you get yourself to Port Lincoln, please don't hesitate to contact either Andy Dyer on 0428 837 275 or andy.dyer@epseafoods.com.au or Donna Evans on 0408 833 332 or donna@makingthingshappen.com.au

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN STATE TITLES

The SA States are coming up very quickly and will provide excellent preparation for the big event soon after.

This year they will be held at the Cruising Yacht Club of SA who are also generously allowing storage for boats between the States and Port Lincoln Australian Champs. For those of you that haven't visited the CYCSA or been there for some time, you will be super impressed with the facilities. Everything is very easy and the new club bar and lawns provide a beautiful after race location.

All the information you require for the event is on our website. Online Entries are here. Check it out and get your nominations in before late fees apply.

Congratulations to Sam and Jonno Bannister on the arrival of their twins recently. Well done team! Does this mean the plans are working out for us to see you in Lincoln Jonno?

PROMOTING MELGES 24

This week we received the following from IMCA -
  1. Creating more buzz about Melges 24 and events
IM24CA has recorded some remarkable statistic numbers during the year being active in a large level of social media and creating footage and coverage as much as possible. Now the new website has become crucial as it’s almost impossible to present videos, photos, social media channels or upload html-files. The process is finally underway – fingers crossed!  During 2017 Annual General Meeting It was suggested to send out guidelines by IM24CA how National Classes can send the content to IM24CA to be uploaded on IM24CA website or social media. VIDEO is the content the class needs the most. These guidelines will be sent to you shortly, but what you can do in the first place:
  • Facebook – like IM24CA page https://www.facebook.com/World.of.Melges24 and tag IM24CA to your posts with @International Melges 24 Class Association or send us the message through the page if there’s something particular to post.
  • Instagram – follow IM24CA page https://www.instagram.com/worldofmelges24/   - there are more than 1,500 followers and your posts (videos and photos) with hashtags #melges24 will be reposted to our account.
Twitter – follow IM24CA feed at https://twitter.com/Melges_24 - while tweeting  tag IM24CA to your post with @Melges_24 and hashtag #Melges24

Could you please tag both our page @melges 24 Association of Australia and the international page as above? We can all help the buzz get louder.
