A small 1-day, 1-track conference about the Web as a material.
Save the date. We're back in 2018.
Friday, November 16th, 2018, we're planning our second Material Conference. Currently, we're lining up speakers for the event, but we wanted to let you know as soon as possible so you could start planning. We've pushed the date back a bit to get away from the high-season. This makes it easier and cheaper for you to find flights and accommodations.
Plus, mid-November will be past the fall equinox and creeping towards the winter solstice. This is great news for spotting the Aurora Borealis.
The registration website is up and we'll continue to update it as we solidify more details. The format will be very similar, several main talks, sprinkled with mini-talks throughout the day. The focus will be on the Web as a Material and we'll hear from a wide range of folks.
Getting your Blind Bird ticket early saves money, but booking flights and accommodations can save even more. There are several airlines that fly to Iceland and with this much notice, you can get round-trip flights for less than 300 Euros. So why not come just for the fun of it!
OmNom Chocolate gives us some background about the material of Chocolate.
Ruby Chocolate
After OmNom gave their talk about Chocolate, we started to see chocolate in a whole new light (and dark). And when an article passed by our screens about the new Ruby Chocolate, we had a look.
A new type of chocolate? When you take a product and look at it so deeply, you can begin to find new and interesting uses. That is what we want to do with the Web!
We asked our speaker Michael McCarey what his thoughts were and here is his response:
It is technically chocolate! Haven't tried it yet, but I think it's all a ploy for creating a new market category that probably wont work long term. People don't even buy white chocolate enough. I'd be interested in seeing the ingredient label when it is printed.
If you or you company would like to sponsor Material 2018, then get in touch and we can talk. We'd love to have interesting companies support this project by providing snacks, coffee and lunch for the attendees.
