In his recent budget speech, the Chancellor announced that schools and colleges would be paid £600 for each pupil who takes a Post-16 Mathematics qualification*.

Introducing the Level 3 Core Maths qualification into your centre is one way of accessing this financial incentive.

Core Maths has been designed so that all students who have achieved a pass at GCSE can access the content. The qualification is based on meaningful mathematical problem solving, which aims to make students better equipped for the mathematical demands of other subject courses, higher education and employment.
"Studying maths beyond GCSE level helps to ensure young people are equipped to play a full part as informed citizens in an increasingly data-driven world and opens up exciting opportunities to access high income careers in business, technology, engineering and science.

All students who achieve a grade 4 and above in GCSE Maths should study maths post-16, whatever their future aspirations.
Core Maths is specifically designed for those students with a grade 4 or higher who do not aspire to a strongly maths-based career.

This new funding should ensure it can establish itself as a mainstream qualification, offered by all schools and colleges teaching post-16 students."
