SOCIAL INCLUSION

Last August we hosted a two day workshop with Kim Payne for teachers and staff, identifying and understanding attention, emotional, and behavioral issues in the classroom and sharing elements of the Social Inclusion Program. UPCOMING EVENTS

TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF

"As a parent, you are expected to ensure your child’s uninterrupted and punctual attendance at school. Within the context of a curriculum fundamentally informed by rhythm, arriving late is very disruptive to the class. Our main lessons are taught by blocks of three to four weeks, and the content is not easily assimilated if missed." from the VWS Parent Handbook

On the cusp of this New Year, let's do our part to help our children to adhere to school policy regarding punctuality and attendance. The first bell rings at 8:15 at the Grade School and at 8:30 at the High School. Students are expected to be seated and ready to begin their Main Lesson by the time the second bells ring.

We understand that it's not always easy to get sleepy kids up and ready in the morning, and are happy to discuss strategies to assist bedtime, waking, and general rhythm. Articles and resources are available to support your endeavours. Visit the Online Waldorf Library and search for "sleep", here is one article to get you started, Sleep by Helle Heckmann.

Thank you for being mindful and supporting the punctuality of your child this Winter Term.
Many blessings
