Hello Musicians.

Here are a few updates and reminders:

Bad Weather
When the weather is bad, be sure to check your email around 2 pm (10 am for Capital Crescendos), especially if local school buses have been cancelled.  The school board sometimes closes schools to community users in the evening, and we'll try to get a notice out to you as soon as we can.

Also, please don't forget that during the winter you need to bring shoes or slippers to rehearsal and leave boots in the hall.

ONHB Shirts
The group shirt order is being placed this weekend. Please note: The musicians going to Ireland will need an ONHB band shirt. Please email Cathy by Friday if you have a last minute order to place. Cash or cheque is needed to place an order.

Also, we have been informed that the new premium cotton golf shirt has had shrinkage issues (the T-shirts are fine - no problems with shrinkage). Therefore, we have decided to change the orders that were for the $45 premium cotton golf shirt to a very nice cotton-poly blend that holds its shape and colour.  If you are unhappy with this solution and wish to change your order, please contact Cathy by Friday.

Thanks from OrKidstra
As you know, we shared the contributions received at our wonderful Fall Session concert (Dec. 10) with OrKidstra, as we have done for many years.  Cathy received the following email:

News from the New Horizons International Music Association
We've been asked to share the following with ONHB musicians:

"Please check the (NHIMA) New Horizons website for three fun events in the spring and summer.  March 1-10 is the Florida Open House where "snow birds" are invited to "sit in" with as many bands as you wish.

"This Spring, NHIMA and the University of Dayton New Horizons Program are co-sponsoring a music camp in Dayton, Ohio.  This camp is extra special because it has both band and orchestra.  In addition to the large ensembles, you can take part it small groups like jazz band, German band, Indonesian gamelan (no experience required), conducting, music technology , and chorus.

"Then, in beautiful Bend, Oregon, comes the "Music on the Deschutes" band camp July 23-27.  This camp is sponsored by the Cascade Horizon Band in Bend, Oregon.

"All of these events are open to New Horizons members and non-members.  But the discounts are large enough to pay for your yearly NHIMA membership.  Please check the New Horizons website at NewHorizonsMusic.org and consider making new friends at a New Horizons Music event."
