Terrones New Editor-in-Chief
of Carbon Journal

Mauricio Terrones, Distinguished Professor of Physics, Chemistry, and Materials Science and Engineering, Penn State, has been named editor-in-chief of Carbon, effective January 1, 2018. Terrones is director of the Center for 2-Dimensional and Layered Materials (2DLM) and the Center for Atomically Thin Multifunctional Coatings (ATOMIC), both at Penn State.

Founded in conjunction with the American Carbon Society, Carbon is an international journal focused on carbon in all its forms. Carbon receives around 5000 submissions per year and has an impact factor of 6.337.

Ceramic Scientist Publishes Textbook on Crystal Chemistry

A new textbook aimed at upper level students studying materials science and engineering is based on the lectures of the late Robert Newnham, a legendary Penn State professor and inventor who was responsible for the transducers used in cardiac ultrasound and many other advances in ceramic science and engineering.
