With only 37 days to go, we thought you would like to start mapping your personal 2018 festival experience. Artist times are now up on each artists’ page on the website, and you can download the performance grid from our website home page.
The Port Fairy Folk Festival is celebrated each year in Peek Whurrong country. Port Fairy is the home of the Pyipgil Gunditj. The 42nd Port Fairy Folk Festival will commence at 4:00pm on Friday at Fiddlers Green. We will be welcomed to Peek Whurrong country by local cultural representatives Brett Clarke and Adeline McDonald, and then be be treated to the debut performance from The Find Your Voice All Abilities Choir followed by a wonderful parade led by the Warrnambool & District Pipes and Drums Inc, which will take us to the festival gates where a Smoking Ceremony will officially welcome us all to the Festival Arena.
The Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee pays their respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that the land that we gather on each year for the Festival is the traditional lands of the Peek Whurrong people.
For tens of thousands of years the Pyipgil Gunditj clan have gathered for ceremony on this country. For the last 41 years the Port Fairy Folk Festival has been celebrated each year in the lands of the Pyipgil Gunditj clans, in Peek Whurrong country.
We look forward to seeing you all at this wonderful annual gathering where we become one very special community who celebrate, music, culture, arts, ideas and diversity.
