CALLING ALL
AUTHORS AND ILLUSTRATORS
Elizabeth Haddon is looking for authors and illustrators to be a part of the bookworm program!
The Bookworm program is a unique program to Lizzy Haddon. Started over 20 years ago! This program sponsored by EHSPTA gives students in Kindergarten thru 5th grade the opportunity to pen and illustrate their own book. The bookworm team then turns them into hardcover books which are shelved in our very own Lizzy Haddon Library until your child graduates from 5th grade at which time they can take it home!
For the past several years the Bookworm program has published an average of 65 to 100 books!
Have your child get an early start this year. Start now! The submission deadline is Monday March 12, 2017. We CANNOT accept late bookworms.
Your child can work alone, or with a friend or even as a group! Some ideas for books could be things you did over fall or winter break, holidays with your families, how do you spend your summers, your favorite sports or hobbies, and of course anything you child can dream up!! There is no limit to their creativity!
The Bookworm program is an amazing opportunity for your child to participate in!
Some highlights of the program:
• Students in grades K -5 can participate
• The Authors of the first 20 Bookworms received will be invited to participate in a special "Bookworm Author" day at Inkwood Books where they will have a chance to showcase their books
• ALL Authors 1st-5th will receive a homework pass and Kindergarten will receive a stuffed animal pass
• Mr. Bissinger hand delivers each completed book to the student
• Authors have their biography displayed on the Bookworm mural wall by the cafeteria
• Authors are invited to a special Bookworm assembly in June where we will have a special guest speaker
• Authors will all receive a Bookworm certificate at the assembly
Bookworm forms, templates and directions are available on the “Important Flyers and Notes” link on the EH website and on the PTA website.
Feel free to have your child browse the selection of Bookworms at the EH library to see examples!
