Welcome to the first edition of our newsletter. We listened to your feedback and you said "we'd like to hear what Neotists are up to" — and so we're answering with a weekly newsletter. So get in touch about anything you’d like to see featured in future editions.

News

The success from the Creative Christmas

The owners of 58 South Street were kind enough to let us use the premises during the Christmas lights switch where we were able to host a free creative drop-in session and over 300 people attended. Families not only got to come in out of the cold and noise, but to create some lovely festive crafts and sample some delicious homemade soup made by local chef Michael Hall (and of course Gayle).

Donations for this event went to local charity Switch Now and we managed to raise £100 for their Christmas social. People were able to see the start of the cardboard town displayed in the window (future project coming this way) and sit on furniture on loan from The Shop at Forty.

It was our first taster of organising one of these pop-up events and we’re confident that the people of St Neots want more of the same (thanks to the handy feedback tags they filled out telling us so!) There will be more opportunities that all of us can get involved with which we’re very excited about and will be sure to keep you up dated.

Don’t miss local artist and Neotist Oliver Winconek’s exhibition currently on at Babylon Arts Gallery in Ely until 18 February. You can find more about the exhibition and how he was able to use Kickstarter to fund the project.

St Neots Museum reopens after a temporary closure to have a deep clean. They open on Tuesday 6 February and will be exhibiting local animated film maker Ruth Coggins’ set from her movie A War To End No Wars which featured in the recent St Neots Film Festival. Go along and see some of the tiny handmade props which are free to see in the museum as well as the movie itself.

It’s half term, but it doesn’t all have to be about the kids being entertained. Habby Days are running their Crafty Kids Half Term Workshops (Tuesday to Friday) but if you haven’t visited the shop before you’ll find out about the various sessions they run for adults.

The Shop at Forty run workshops and a few of us have attended the brush lettering class and really enjoyed it (it doesn’t all have to be inspiring quotes or even suitable for kids…)

Keep an eye out for upcoming editions where we’ll be telling you about how some of us Neotists will be involved with vintage hair, a well-known flower show, Inland Waterways festival, music, film clubs, five questions for creatives, Escape the room, and loads more.
