Colleen Black Semelka will exhibit ceramics in the 8th Annual James Applewhite Poetry Invitational at the City Art Gallery. This is Colleen’s 8th year participating in the multi-media Invitational, which features a collection of paintings, ceramics, sculpture and jewelry inspired by the poetry of North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame member Dr. James Applewhite. Bynum Bridge Fest Call for Artists
Through March 1
Guild artist Amanda Greiner is a proud co-founder of be PhilARThropy, the philanthropic art movement behind the Bynum Bridge Fest. Amanda invites all artists to apply to the 3rd annual art festival to be held on Saturday April 21 in Bynum NC, located between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro. Applications will be accepted through March 1 for the juried festival. Artists will be featured on the walking bridge in Bynum, and in 10x10 booth spaces overlooking the Haw River for $35 (or $30 Early Bird if applying by February 1st). All festival proceeds from be PhilARThropy will be donated to charity. Look for application details at www.bephilarthropy.com/.



Beth Bale watercolor paintings at UNC Women’s Hospital

Through the month of February
A solo show of Beth Bale’s watercolor paintings will be on exhibit through the month of February at UNC Hospitals’ NC Women’s Hospital. The show includes landscape, floral and animal originals, as well as UNC Hospital buildings. Beth’s art is lively and colorful with a focus on light and shadow.  She paints animals (cats, dogs, local wildlife, birds, horses and more), nature, and other images that capture her attention, whether it be the shadows of a building, the work of a weaver, or the creative vision in her imagination. 

The Women’s Health Information Center is located just off the lobby on the ground floor of the NC Women’s Hospital.  The Women’s Center is open to the public during business hours from 9 am to 5 pm, except when having classes. Emily Merletto paintings and prints at Chatham Marketplace

Through the month of March
Emily Merletto will showcase her watercolor paintings and lino cut prints at the Chatham Marketplace Cafe during the month of March. The art opening date is to be determined. Emily’s work depicts the intersection of environment and imagination, giving way to the myriad of possibilities that fall between.


Beth Goldston Paintings on Exhibit

Four of Beth Goldston's oil paintings depicting crows in gardens from her Messengers series are currently exhibited in a group show at the Carrboro Town Hall. The exhibit can be seen now through the month of March.

Paintings by Beth Goldston are included in the Meredith Hues Iris Alumnae Exhibition at her alma mater, Meredith College, in Raleigh. The exhibit is in the Gaddy-Hamrick Art Center on the Meredith Campus. A reception will be held on Tuesday, February 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm

 
Beth Bale watercolor classes at Joyful Jewel

Beth Bale is leading a series of six classes for beginner to intermediate watercolor painters at The Joyful Jewel in Pittsboro.  This series runs from February through April, and while these classes are full, a summer series will be offered.
