THE REKON NEWSLETTER:

A QUARTERLY RECONNAISSANCE
The start of winter brought with it the increased use of heaters at ReKon HQ, a consistent discussion of Star Wars, and the end of another year at ReKon Productions. As January comes to a close, we've taken a moment to reflect on all the happenings of the last 12 months, in our annual Year in Review.

ReKon Productions hopes that 2018 brings us new stories to tell, continued growth and the ability to share stories with all of you. Our current hopes for this year include finally hitting 1,000 Twitter Followers (help us by following, if you haven't yet), introducing new storytellers to our team, creating engaging content and maybe getting a new coffee maker for HQ. Like any collection of storytellers, we aim to tell tales of epic voyages and everyday moments alike. So we hope each of you keeps being a part of our journey!

Back in October, ReKoners ventured all the way to Hollywood to see Hamilton and experience the great tradition of live theater. At ReKon, we consistently seek out team building activities that promote storytelling in all forms, as a way to actively embrace our mission statement. #ReKonGoestoHamilton was just one of our most recent storytelling adventures.

Some Studio projects from 2017 are now available to view on the Shot at ReKon Studio playlist on our youtube channel. The recent Vice News and Regina Spektor project Music Corner is now live. Additionally, two readings produced by C4Media as part of The Sojourner Project are now available. And be sure to check out the trailer for Cupid's Match done by KR Squared, partially shot in our studio, for CW Seed.

Exciting news for DO NO HARM starting its festival circuit - the short film has been selected for the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival in February and the Fargo Film Festival in March.

ReKon only produced one music video in 2017 - KARATE by Dominique Young Unique. The video was featured in The Drop a part of Refinery29. Additional projects that have now aired include two of the Sesame Street Segments we produced with Makazan Films as part of the 48th season on HBO.

A new addition to the ReKon HQ space is Simple DCP's (our suite neighbors) brand new theater room, perfect for a small screening space, or to do Color Grading in a theater environment. The screening room is a great new resource across the hall from our offices for all our independent filmmakers.

Back in November, ReKoner Kristina Kondrath was a guest on the podcast Tea for Two. The podcast is hosted by actress Toks Olagundoye and features a different industry friend over for tea every episode to chat about what it is they really do in Hollywood, how they got there and what they love (and maybe don't love) about it.

We always love to hear from our all our clients and collaborators. We love to include updates from all our projects, so if you've done a show and have an update you'd like us to include in our next newsletter please let us know by emailing us

In Quarter 4, ReKon provided  14 projects with production services.
At the end of the Fall season, our team joined forces with WatchMojo on the WORST TRAVEL SHOW. ReKoner John Thomas Schrad traveled around Los Angeles with the team to capture all of Kyle's reviews of well known and lesser-known LA gems. The series was directed by Carey Lundin and edited in-house by ReKoner Peter Frintrup and his team. All five episodes of the season are now available on Facebook Watch.

Kristina Kondrath provided her production chops to two different commercials. She worked with Flying Man Productions on a spot for Avast VPN in November, followed by a spec spot for Cavalry Productions in December.

December ushered in the last couple of shoots of the year. In collaboration with Cashmere Agency, Lesley Lopez produced promotional social media content for Dear White People Season 2. The content was directed by Patrick Lascu and will be released when the new season drops on Netflix. During the last week of the year, Lopez also produced a promotional digital spot for luxury brand Furrion. The spot directed by Karim Tabar, premiered at CES in Las Vegas recently.

The winter months inspired new ReKon Online Original content. Joining forces with Borndreamer, our ReKon team helped facilitate the development, production, and post-production of MASTER MEME THEATRE.

A series born by answering the very serious question - what would happen if actors used viral memes to audition for roles? The first season is 16 individual auditions and 4 compilation auditions. Episodes released Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on ReKon Online (ReKon's Youtube Channel). The series premiered on December 13, 2017, and posted its final compilation on January 29, 2018. Created and Directed by the Ayer sisters of Borndreamer, the series was edited by second-semester ReKon Intern Devin Foster and executive produced by Lesley Lopez.

We also launched into production of HER INSPIRATION, SHE IS a new ReKon Online Original focusing on the talent and inspirations of females in the entertainment industry. A docu-style interview series conceived as an opportunity to talk to the many talented women ReKon Productions has had the privilege of working with over the years about their experiences, skills and which women have inspired their careers. The new series is being directed by Jon Michael Kondrath and executive produced by Lesley Lopez and is slated to release in March of 2018.
