Sign the Petition to Stop the Train Noise
Our friends over at 1824 Defoor have put together a petition and asked we distribute to the Underwood Hills community at large. As you have likely already read on NextDoor, the CSX station behind Defoor Ave has now become the primary transportation line, which has increased the noise considerably - at all hours. The noise they describe is not just the horns anymore, we’re dealing more with the screeching and slamming of trains running into one another than the horn blowing.
Historically, we know UH prides itself as being a part of the train era and we embrace that. The concern for townhouse, apartments and condos in our area that back-up to the rail yard behind Defoor is that it has become the primary rail yard as the Tilford rail-yard and one other yard have closed. We've heard from residents over at 1824 Defoor and Defoor Walk (who have been there 17 years+), and just over the course of the past couple months have noticed a very intense noise increase.
We will be meeting with City Council, our UHNA Planning team, NPU-D and also the Ashkouti Family (who owns 1824 defoor) Tuesday, February 13th at 10:00 to discuss this concern. The goal here is to have a conversation with CSX discuss what our options are to help impacted residents.
1824 has compiled this change.org form and if you are interested in signing please click the link below. The goal is to get at least 1000 signatures, so feel free to share. http://chn.ge/2BPQPcg
Separately, if you have any personal testimonials as residents you'd like to share-specific to how this has impacted you, please reach out to Ashley Ashkouti, her contact information is below.
