Year 10 Day
Year 10 day run with the Royal College of Music, Royal Albert Hall and ABRSM. Pupils from secondary schools in the Tri-borough area are looking forward to coming together on 31st January at the Royal Albert Hall, to work collaboratively on techniques and skills associated with musical learning - we hope they enjoy the day!
Almost one year ago in March 2017, the Tri-borough Music Hub (TBMH), along with its Strategic Partners at the Royal Albert Hall and Royal College of Music announced details of their next large-scale project and performance event, ‘Convo’ (#convo2019), being written by the exciting and emerging composer Charlotte Harding. Thanks to core-funding from John Lyon’s Charity, this ambitious project will see young musicians from schools across Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster working together on a new musical work which will be premiered at the Royal Albert Hall in March 2019. A massed instrumental ensemble of c.120 TBMH young musicians will play side-by-side with professional musicians, supporting a massed chorus of c.1000 primary, secondary and special school pupils. The performance will be the culmination of an extensive two-year project of creative music-making and development across the TBMH which aims to embed best musical practice as an essential part of school life, giving invaluable musical opportunities to all pupils in the area irrespective of their background.
We will be releasing more details to schools in late February about how they can get involved and outlining details at a launch event at the RAH on 18th April.

During last Autumn term and this Spring term, Charlotte has been delivering some research and development workshops in 7 schools and the TBMH ensembles. These workshops are generating musical ideas through compositional-focused activities which she will then weave into the final piece.
Morse Code Competition
Alongside these R&D workshops we are launching a public-wide Morse Code competition. We are asking people the following question: 'What message would you send to the future?', and the winning entry will then be transcribed into Morse Code and referenced in the final piece.
To take part you need to do the following:
  • Send to us your message to the future which is no longer than a Tweet in length – (140 characters, the original Tweet length)
  • Entries should be sent to info@triboroughmusichub.org marked as Convo  Morse Code competition
  • Closing date is Thurs 29th March 2018
  • All entries will then be judged by a select group from the RAH, RCM and TBMH
Please note that for the sake of clarity, the copyright of any musical or lyrical material resulting from the Morse Code competition which is then ultimately included, referenced and published in the final composition will belong to the Composer, Charlotte Harding, and not to the competition winner. However, the competition winner will be acknowledged in the event programme and celebrated on social media using the hashtag #convo2019.
