In Pursuit of Beauty
I did something last week that was outside my comfort zone. I spoke about beauty to approximately 100 people for 6 minutes and 40 seconds at a PechaKucha night in Fort Collins. Like TedTalks only faster, PechaKucha presenters talk about their topic of choice, accompanied by 20 slides, being allotted 20 seconds per slide. Click here to hear my presentation and see my slides (no video available unless you know that guy in the front row).
The thing that was extra special about this particular PechaKucha night, was that it was held in the digital dome theatre at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. The surface onto which our images were projected was a 36' diameter concave dome. While some of my images became a little distorted in this 360° format, panoramic photos and detail shots of my artwork were amazing! In fact, during my presentation, soon after declaring that, "my superpower is my vast capacity for delight," I could hardly continue my talk due to being overwhelmed with delight at seeing my artwork projected onto the dome! I have to say, it was a pretty thrilling experience. I'm still gathering the pieces of my shattered comfort zone. I wonder if I can knit them back together?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
