Wir beginnen mit Informationen vom Schulleiter an die Eltern:
Sehr geehrte Eltern,
zurzeit laufen die Notenkonferenzen, so dass wir am nächsten Donnerstag, den 1. Februar die Zeugnisse ausgeben können. Wie in der Ferienübersicht angekündigt, endet der Unterricht um 11:50 Uhr. Zuvor werden in der Mensa noch die Ergebnisse der Mathematikwettbewerbe und die Ergebnisse der DELF Prüfung bekanntgegeben.
Unser Schulverwaltungssoftware (I-Campus) bietet auch ein Elternportal an, welches künftig allen zugangsberechtigten Nutzern mehr Einblick in ihre eigenen personenbezogenen Daten bietet. Vom Schulgeld über die Abwesenheiten bis zu den Noten Ihrer Kinder soll alles für Sie transparent werden. Das ehrgeizige Projekt steckt aber noch in den Kinderschuhen und muss noch fleißig getestet werden. Sobald alles steht, werden wir Sie informieren.
Eine in der letzten Zeit häufig gestellte Frage ist die Planung der Ferienordnung für das nächste Schuljahr. Leider können wir die Planung nur nach den Vorgaben der KHDA durchführen. Diese ändern sich jedes Jahr und liegen uns noch nicht vor. Eine Information wurde aber vorab schon veröffentlicht: Das Schuljahr 2018/19 beginnt voraussichtlich am Sonntag, den 2. September. Den genauen Plan für die anderen Ferien werden wir Ihnen, sobald die Termine vorliegen, mitteilen.
Die erste Woche im 2. Halbjahr (4. bis 8. Februar) ist bereits als sogenannte „Wanderwoche“ geplant. Die 3ten, 5ten, 7ten, 9ten und 11ten Klassen sind teilweise oder in der gesamten Woche unterwegs. Für die 12. Jahrgangsstufe beginnt am Mittwoch, den 7.2. das schriftliche Abitur. Die 10. Jahrgangsstufe bereitet sich auf die ZK (zentrale Klassenarbeit) vor. Projekte gibt es nur für die 6. und 8. Jahrgangsstufe. Aus diesem Grunde ist die im Plan genannte Bezeichnung Projektwoche nicht ganz zutreffend. Vielleicht lässt sich dies später noch einmal nachholen. Die Projekttage der Grundschule sind davon nicht betroffen, diese verlaufen wie geplant.

We start with information from the principal for the parents:
Dear parents,
Currently the grading conferences are running and we are going to give out the reports on February 1st. As announced in the holiday calendar, the lessons will end at 11.50 am. During the last lesson, the results of mathematics competitions and of the DELF-exam will be announced.
Our school administration software (I-Campus) is offering a parents portal, which in future will give authorized users access to their data. From school fees to absences to your children’s grades you will have a transparent overview. The ambitious project is still in its infancy and has to be tested diligently. We will inform you as soon as it is ready.
A frequently asked question is, when the school holiday planning for the next academic year will be finalized. Unfortunately we can do the planning only with the specifications from KDHA. These change every year and are not given to us yet. The school year 2018/19 is expected to start on September 2nd. We will inform you about the exact holiday plan as soon as we have all the dates.
The first week of the 2nd half year (February 4th until 8th) is planned as so called „Wanderwoche“ (excursion week). Grade 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 will be partially or the entire week on a school trip. Due to this fact the term Project Week, which we are using in our plan, is not correct. Maybe it is possible another time. The project days of the primary school are not affected by this, they will take place as planned.

Am Donnerstag, den 01.02.2018 enden Schule und Kindergarten um 11:50 Uhr.
Die Schulbusse fahren an diesem Tag um 12:00 Uhr ab.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass an diesem Tag nicht alle Drop-Off Plätze in den Bussen verfügbar sind. Wenn Sie diesen Service in Anspruch nehmen möchten, wenden Sie sich bitte an Fr. Berti.

Last school day of the 1st term
On February 1st 2018, school and kindergarten finish at 11.50 am. The school busses will leave at 12 pm on this day. Please note, that not all Drop-Off places in the busses will be available. If you want to make use of this service, please contact Mrs Berti.

During the "Wanderwoche" (excursion week) no Arabic and Ethics classes take place in the afternoon. They only start from February 11 2018. Please see "Important Dates" in this Newsletter.

Sie können hier das Programm und weitere Informationen zur Registrierung einsehen.
Die Registrierung ist noch bis zum 31.01.2018 über das Eltern-Portal von Just Play möglich. AG-Beginn ist der 04.02.2018.

After-School Program Term 2
The After-School Program for Term 2 2017/18 is now online.
You can check the program and further information about the registration here. The registration is still open until January 31 via the parents portal of Just Play. The program starts on February 04 2018.

Neue Mitarbeiter
Wir begrüßen zwei neue Mitarbeiter an der DISD. Herrn Matthias Preiß ist der neue DISD-Kindergartenleiter. Er war bereits an den Deutschen Auslandsschulen in St. Peterburg und Shanghai tätig.
Frau Priscille Pittet übernimmt die Klasse von Frau Singler, die jetzt in den Mutterschutz geht.
Herr Werner Hoppstock übernimmt die Mathematik- und Physikklassen von Herrn Metelmann. Er bringt viel Lehrerfahrung aus Deutschland und dem Ausland mit.

New staff
We welcome two new teachers at DISD. Mr Matthias Preiß is the new head of Kindergarten. He has has already worked in German Schools abroad in St. Petersburg and Shanghai.
Mrs Priscille Pittet is taking over the class from Mrs Singler who is going to be on maternity leave.
Mr Werner Hoppstock takes over the classes of Mr Metelmann. He brings a high value of experience in teaching abroad. Please find more information here.

Auch in diesem Jahr sind wir wieder bei der Messe für Bildung - didacta mit dabei - auf dem Gemeinschaftsstand der Deutschen Auslandschulen (Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen).

Am Mittwoch, den 14.03.2018 um 18 Uhr, findet in unserem Schulhof wieder ein Musikalisches Picknick statt. Wir freuen uns auf ein buntes Programm von den musikalischen Talenten unserer Schule. Bitte tragen Sie sich den Termin schon mal in Ihren Kalender ein.
Schüler, die Lust haben aufzutreten, nehmen bitte ein kurzes Bewerbungsvideo mit dem Smartphone auf und schicken es bis zum 28. Februar an musik@germanschool.ae.

On Wednesday, March 14th at 6 pm the next Musical Picnic will take place in our school yard. We are looking forward to a wonderful program by our musical talents. Please mark this date in your calendar.
Students, who would like to contribute, please record a short application video with a smartphone and send it to musik@germanschool.ae until February 28.

Elterncafé mit Brothaus-Bäcker
Am 6. Februar findet das nächste Elterncafé in der Schulkantine von 8:00 bis 9:00 Uhr statt.
Dieses Mal wieder mit dem Bäcker vom Brothaus des Hotel Steigenbergers. Er wird deutsches Brot anbieten und bringt leckeren Streuselkuchen zum Probieren mit.

The next Parent Café will take place on February 6th in the school canteen from 8.00 until 9.00 am. Once again the baker of Brothaus from Hotel Steigenberger will be present and will offer German bread and bring some delicious crumble to taste.
