Here I am about to go on the air. (Photo by my daughter, Kate.)
I've written about being on the radio, but I've never actually been on the radio - until this past Saturday. I stopped by WDCB and "Those Were the Days" to chat with host Steve Darnall about my books and old time radio. It's was a lot of fun. It’s always great to talk to people who love what I love. Believe it or not, I don’t run into many old-time radio enthusiasts in my everyday life. (Actually, that’s probably not very hard to believe.) Everyone at the station was so nice, and it made my little geek heart happy.
Click on the microphone above to listen. I come on around the two-hour mark. *Note: The WMA file will not stream if you're using Chrome as your browser. You must use Internet Explorer or Firefox to listen.
If you’re in the Chicagoland area you can listen to "Those Were the Days" every Saturday from 1-5 PM on WDCB. If you’re not in the Chicagoland area (or live out of signal range like me), you can stream the show live from their website.

Steve also produces Nostalgia Digest, the quarterly old time radio publication that I mention in the interview. It helped me immensely in research for my books.
(And just for fun here’s a link to War of the Worlds, the show that started it all for me.)
