DiscipleKit update - January 2018

Of the engaging Lent resources we are highlighting here, my favourite approach is from Max Lucado’s He Chose the Nails, where he challenges us to think of Lent as a time of receiving rather than of depriving – receiving the extraordinary gifts made possible by the cross of Christ. I would recommend this resource to all.

Then 40 Acts are encouraging us to make a difference to the world again, through Acts of generosity and imagination – get involved! Holy Habits is the one here that is not just for Lent, but it is brand new, and is a bit different …

There are tons of great Lent ideas on disciplekit.org, so do find the one that appeals to you, and pass the word on. Also, take a look at CPAS on Facebook and Twitter for a free giveaway!
He Chose the Nails

Five Sessions for Lent. God’s greatest gifts ever given to us. Every gift from God reveals his love, but no gift reveals his love more than the gifts of the cross. These gifts came not wrapped in paper but in passion. They were not placed around a tree but around a cross. They were not covered with ribbons but sprinkled with the blood that Christ shed on our behalf.
LentWise: Spiritual Essentials for Real Life

If our lives with God are a journey, what are the travel essentials we should not be without?

LentWise explores five different spiritual essentials for our journey of faith, using passages from John’s Gospel.

40 Acts. Faith in Deed.

40 days, 40 reflections, 40 challenges to make a difference

Join forces with a global, generous community of over one hundred thousand people who have completed the 40acts challenge during Lent.

Jesus - The Wounded Healer

Jesus is a wounded Healer – His ability to heal our wounds flows from the fact that He Himself experienced our wounds. The God we see in Jesus did not study our sufferings from a distance in a cold and detached way, but wrapped Himself in our flesh and felt what we feel.
Holy Habits

HOLY HABITS is an initiative to nurture Christian discipleship. It explores Luke’s model of church found in Acts 2:42–47, identifies ten habits and encourages the development of a way of life formed by them. These resources, which include an introductory guide, have been developed to help churches explore the habits in a range of contexts and live them out in wholelife, missional discipleship.
On the Third Day

An ecumenical course in five sessions written by Bishop John Pritchard. For discussion groups and individuals – suitable for Lent or any season.

The Course audio brings the opinions and thoughts of these leading Christian thinkers into your discussion group. It is intended to be used in tandem with this course booklet.
