GDPR Privacy Regulation
The EU Parliament has approved new privacy legislation. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is introduced to protect EU citizens' data privacy and will be enforced from the 25th of May 2018. Organisations that fail to comply to GDPR will face heavy fines. GDPR requires SPLISS to standardise procedures regarding newsletters.
This entails that all recipients of the SPLISS newsletters who wish to continue receiving newsletters are required to re-subscribe through the link below.

A focus on South Korea participating in the international comparison of the Sports Policy factors Leading to International Sporting Success (SPLISS 2.0)

With the 2018 Olympic Winter Games starting this week, our newsletter focuses on the host nation South Korea. As South Korea was a partner nation involved in the SPLISS 2.0 project, we will show the overall results of the country on the nine elite sport policy pillars used in the SPLISS 2.0 benchmarks. Figure 1: Distribution of Success of South Korea at the 2014 Sochi Games per discipline: The percentages per discipline indicate the relative size of the market (i.e. the number of Olympic medals as provided by the IOC at the 2014 Sochi Games).
With an average annual budget spent on elite sport policies of 253 million euros,South Korea was the highest investor in elite sport policies. South Korea is clearly an outlier among the 15 sample nations with substantial national funding invested in elite sport.
