WELCOME TO TERM ONE!
Please take note of the following updates and reminders:

WELCOME!

On behalf of the entire Capriccio! team we would like to take the opportunity to extend a very warm welcome to our new and returning families.  We have had a great start to the year and are so excited about what 2018 has in store for our school!

HYGIENE SUPPLIES

Thank you to all our parents who have sent their little ones' hygiene supplies to school.
We are so appreciative of your contribution, as this greatly aids us in maintaining our high high standards of hygiene.

DAY ZERO

With Day Zero approaching, water conservation and methods of preparation are naturally a top priority for our school. While we do remain hopeful and are currently doing our best to do our part in avoiding Day Zero, we do  feel that it is best to be prepared. As such, we have put the following plans in place:
  • We are educating our staff and learners to use water sparingly, where appropriate using alternatives such as sanitizer or sanitizing wipes.
  • We are stocking up on bottled mineral water to be used in the kitchen for cooking.
  • Our swimming pool will serve as a reservoir for water for sanitation (flushing with buckets) and cleaning purposes.
  • Should it be necessary, we have secured resources for restocking our water supply.
  • Children would continue to bring their own drinking water from home. Our aftercare children will be required to send a second water bottle to school.
Our high standards of hygiene, as well as ensuring your little ones' health and safety, will remain our first priority.  We do not currently foresee having to rely on assistance from our parents with regards to our water supply. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any helpful suggestions to ensure that we are prepared.

FOUNDATION PHASE

Capriccio! is embarking on an exciting new adventure in 2019. We have decided to expand our pre-school to include Foundation Phase Grades 1 to 3. We will be phasing our new classes in on our current premises (upstairs). We intend on gradually phasing in the higher grades of primary school each year, at least up to grade 7. We will at that point assess the viability of providing high school education as well. We value the feedback of our parents and would like to encourage you to take a few minutes to complete a quick survey in order for us to gain some insight into your thoughts about our exciting new addition. Please follow the link and complete our survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DNJD9W2

TERM ONE EVENT

We would like to invite all our families to our annual family picnic on Saturday, 3rd of March from 10:00 – 12:00.  This  fun-filled family event is the perfect opportunity to meet the families in your little one's class and get to know each other a little bit better. Please pack a picnic basket filled with healthy treats and picnic blanket or beach chairs. We ask that little ones please wear their yellow Capriccio! shirts. If the weather allows it, we will be hosting our picnic at Milnerton Beach. We however do not want to get completely blown away, so we will be keeping Green Point Park as an alternative.  We will advise you about the location via WhatsApp closer to the time, to allow us to plan according to the weather. We hope to see you all there!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We are in the process of establishing a community outreach group and would love to have a few of our parents involved. As an established school in the community, we feel that it is important to take an active role in giving back. Teacher Rosina and Savannah will be heading up the group, which will seek out areas/organizations/individuals that could use a helping hand.  We are looking for parents who will be willing and able to commit to being group members. We would of course love to involve the whole school where possible, but we do need a few parents who would be willing to help head up the group to ensure that everything runs smoothly. If you are interested or would like a bit more information, please contact Savannah in the office via email: admin@artspreschool.co.za.

AFTERCARE

Teacher Rosina and Teacher Lauren are our aftercare teachers this year.  The aftercare hours are are: 13h30 - 16h50. We kindly ask that aftercare parents privately notify either Teacher Lauren or Teacher Rosina (as relevant per daily roster shared via WhatsApp group), if you are running late or there are any changes that we need to be made aware of.
For those who would like to make use of our ad-hoc aftercare option, please email the office two days in advance.

WAITING CLASS

We have decided to open a waiting class in the morning to better accommodate parents who may need to drop off their little ones a little bit earlier. Our waiting class is open for early drop-off between 7:25 and 7:30; we ask parents to kindly notify your little one's teacher a day in advance and please adhere to the early drop-off time slot.

COMMUNICATION:

WhatsApp groups: in an effort to be considerate towards all our parents, we ask all to kindly refrain from posting any social messages on the class WhatsApp groups. Please message your little one's teacher directly should there be anything they need to be made aware of.  We also kindly ask that all messages are sent during the school week only, in the mornings between 7h30 and 8h30, and in the afternoons between 14h00 and 17h00.

Please contact the office either telephonically at 021 5551 7008 or via email at admin@artspreschool.co.za to inform the school of late drop-off / pick-up or any other arrangements, such as your little one not being able to attend school.
Should any of your contact details (especially mobile number and email address) change, please inform the office.

If your little one is having a birthday party, or you would like to arrange a play date with someone in their class, please contact Savannah in the office to request the contact details of the parents. We aim to be as respectful as possible of our parents' privacy and therefore only give out contact details that the school has permission to share.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, cooperation and continued support. Please don't hesitate  to contact us should you have questions, or require any assistance.

Wishing you all a wonderful term!
