"To the Attentive Eye, each Moment of the Year has its own Beauty.”

~ Emerson

Spring...

This half term I was lucky enough to spend just over a week in Ibiza. It is amazing travelling to Southern Europe at this time of year. The weather there is as unpredictable as it is here but one thing is for sure - Spring had arrived.  It made my heart swell to see the almond trees in full blossom, daisies and bluebells in our garden and carpets of Bermuda buttercups everywhere...then on our last day - a hibiscus flower!

Add into that clear blue skies, crystal seas and temperatures of up to 20 degrees and my batteries felt fully charged!

Landing back in the UK was like winding back the clock by 2 months. Waking up in Spring and going to bed in Winter. And now today in the UK - snow!

There are no magical yogic insights coming at the end of this ramble...just a simple observation of how marvellous it all is; the sky, the flowers, warmth, cold, nature, the cycle of the year, snow...it never gets old and never ceases to amaze me.

My work is loving the world.
Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird—
          equal seekers of sweetness.
Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums.
Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.

Are my boots old? Is my coat torn?
Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect? Let me
keep my mind on what matters,
which is my work,

which is mostly standing still and learning to be
          astonished.
The phoebe, the delphinium.
The sheep in the pasture, and the pasture.
Which is mostly rejoicing, since all the ingredients are here,

which is gratitude, to be given a mind and a heart
          and these body-clothes,
a mouth with which to give shouts of joy
to the moth and the wren, to the sleepy dug-up clam,
telling them all, over and over, how it is
          that we live forever.
WORKSHOP:
YOGA PHILOSPHY The Bhagavad Gita
THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 2ND, AT YOGA MILA
7.15PM TO 9.15PM

An Introduction to the Bhagavad Gita:

The story unfolds on the battlefield and details a conversation between the warrior Arjuna and his charioteer who happens to be the God Krishna. In this text we learn about the various paths of yoga and the importance of finding and following our dharma, our one true path.

These texts are known as Yoga Darshana - not strictly speaking a philosophy but more the yogic 'point of view'.

Darshana translates to mean "that through which you can see" and through inspirational stories, practical, spiritual and ethical advice this wisdom offers us a way to frame our human experiences and shine a light on inner journey.

These sessions will explore ideas and practices from the long history of yoga. You will engage with texts through discussion, meditation, pranayama, chanting, identifying the key concepts and exploring their relevance to our lives.

They are an opportunity to come together and share our intrigue for these ancient and illuminating concepts and texts.

Sessions are open to all, from complete beginners to teachers. No previous knowledge is required.

PORTUGAL RETREAT
Casa Fuzetta, Olhão

March Wednesday 21st to Monday 26th March, 2018.

There is still time to join me on what is set to be an amazing 5 nights of retreat.

Our venue is the stunning Casa Fuzetta in Olhão, southern Portugal.

The accommodation is off the scale stunning - a huge beautifully decorated historic townhouse with a roof top swimming pool.

The Yoga:

The yoga will mostly be done outside on the roof but there is also a dedicated meditation space. I have planned a full spectrum of practices for the 5 nights - from asana to mantra to philosophy...one of the most magical aspects of retreat is having un interrupt time to indulge in a full spectrum of yoga practices.

Susan, your wonderful yogi host from Wellness Live has also organised a secret excursion!

A little bit more about the location:

Olhão is an ancient fishing village. authentic, rugged and full of charm. Filled with colour, warmth and character; and stunning, unspoiled islands just off its coast. An exceptional discovery for the adventurous and intrepid traveller.

Trips to the islands are wonderful and very easy. From our venue it is just a 10min walk to the waterfront where you can catch a ferry or river taxi to the islands – trip takes 10ish minutes depending on the island you go to. With Armona, Culatra, Farol and Deserta islands all very close there is so much choice. each with a slightly different vibe.

The Food:

The food will be cooked by Tasha, she catered for my November retreat and - as we can all attest to - it was amazing!

All in all this retreat, the yoga sessions, the food, the house, the setting, has been thoughtfully designed to offer you a complete sanctuary for 5 days so that you can fully relax, reflect, and re-energise.

Prices from £1050.

We hope you'll join us.
