Girls of Jerusalem ensemble gets Palestinian voices heard

The group was founded in 2014 and now consists of 25 girls, ages 14 to 20. They meet every week at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in East Jerusalem for rehearsals. The choir sings Palestinian national songs about the Palestinian cause.

The Palestinian Diaspora Orchestra

"People from abroad helped us. So did others from the Arab world. They trained our members on how an orchestra works. It was the birth of the first Palestinian orchestra and gathering of musicians."
The musicians come from different backgrounds but are all equally proud of their Palestinian origins. They're thrilled to be invited to join the orchestra and moved by the shared experience of bringing quality classical Western and traditional Arab music to their target audience in Israel and the occupied West Bank.

'Not Your Habibti': Meet the young Palestinian woman bringing #MeToo movement to the West Bank

A Palestinian-American woman has been heralded the “driving force” of the Middle East’s “Me Too” movement after selling clothing with the slogan “Not Your Habibti (darling)” to women in the West Bank.
Yasmeen Mjalli said she started to design t-shirts, jackets and hoodies with the bold phrase as a way to encourage Palestinian society to confront sexual harassment.

Explaining their nomination, the Parliamentary Group said that the BDS campaign is a non-violent movement for freedom, equality and a just peace for the Palestinian people and was therefore being nominated for the prestigious prize.
