     New training courses and parenting support for 2018

Our new Professional Development and Parent Education programme for 2018 is now available for bookings. Please pass on the Family Futures training brochure 2018 to colleagues, families or friends who may be interested in attending one of our courses. We can also offer our training to individuals or as bespoke packages for Local Authorities.

Family Futures offers world class, innovative courses based on evidence and published research. In our 2016-17 programme we trained around 600 delegates and all of our courses have been very highly regarded by parents and professionals alike. We also offer assessment and treatment services for families, explained in our leaflet or you can find out more here. As an OFSTED outstanding agency based in London, we offer specialist services for the most complex children who are fostered or adopted and our services are covered by the ASF.

In a changing world, evidence based training is our best protection. 
   New parenting support programme for parents and carers
Being a Family
11 days over a 9-month period. Day 1: 1 March 2018 — Trauma and Attachment
 
We're launching a parenting support programme with We are Family to support adoptive parents, foster carers and special guardians in the challenging early stages as a family. Being a Family is eligible for ASF funding if you apply through your LA adoption support service. Benefit from peer-to-peer and professional support augmented by parent education workshops and consultation groups. You can find out more about the programme or book your place here.

 Siblings Placements - Attachment vs Continuity

6 & 7 March 2018
The assumption that keeping siblings together will protect them may not hold when they've experienced complex trauma. This course will give you the knowledge and confidence to decide what is best for the children you are placing. Find out more or book your place here.
 

 The impact of trauma in infancy on attachment and development 

26 & 27 March 2018
Psychiatrists Bruce Perry and Bessel Van der Kolk have identified developmental trauma as a huge issue for children in the public care system. They advocate for a neurosequential approach to treatment - matching the nature and timing of specific therapeutic and clinical techniques to the develpmental stages of the brain. This course explains the therory, gives an outline of how child assessments should be conducted and interventions to support children in their placements. Find out more or book your place here. 

 The impact of child abuse and neglect on children's capacity to learn 
12 April 2018
Abused and neglected children struggle with peer relationships and learning in the classroom. In order to help this group of children learn and remain regulated, an understanding of how abuse and neglect impactchild development is required. The course is designed for teachers to achieve this. Find out more or book your place here.

   Information Evenings for prospective adopters 
21 February 2018 for anyone considering adoption
7 March 2018 for LGBT prospective adopters

Help us spread the word and find families for the growing number of children now waiting for adoption. Our next Information Evenings on Wednesday 21 February and Wednesday 7 March will run from 7 till 8pm at Family Futures, N1 2PL. You can hear more about the adoption process and have the opportunity to ask us questions.


We are supporting LGBT Adoption & Fostering Week 2018 by running an Information Evening on 7 March for LGBT prospective adopters to find out more about the process and what support available.
