CAST Presents The Watsons Go To Birmingham This Weekend!  This popular book chronicles the Watson family from Flint, Michigan.  There's Momma, Dad, little sister Joetta, Kenny and teenage brother Byron who can't seem to stay out of trouble.  Momma and Dad decide it's time for Byron to have a lengthy stay with strict Grandma Sands in Birmingham, Alabama.  The family piles into the Brown Bomber and heads south, toward a horrific moment in America history; the bombing of the Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church during which four young black girls are killed.  This moving play brings to light a very important time, one that needs to be learned and talked about. The play will be presented on Friday, Feb 16 and Saturday, Feb 17 at 7:30 pm.  Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults and can be purchased here.

Next Week, our Dine Around Town is at Panera Wednesday, Feb 21.  After dining, consider seeing Screenagers, the documentary about Growing Up in the Digital Age at 7 pm at Brooks Middle School.  Drop by Panera Bread between 4-8 pm and bring this flyer or show an electronic version to the cashier in order to have a portion of the proceeds donated to Julian. The PTO appreciates your support as we support our teachers and students!
The Julian and Brooks PTO's Invite You and Your Family to a Special Viewing of Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age.   This documentary about one of the biggest parenting issues of our time will be held on Wednesday, February 21 from 7-9 pm at Brooks Middle School. This film will empower kids to best navigate the digital world and provide practical resources to help them do it, also avoiding struggles over social media, video games and internet addiction.  Please register for this free event here.
Join us at Brooks Middle School on Thursday, February 22 for a Community Conversation about Supporting Learning at the Middle School Level. Brooks and Julian are co-hosting this discussion from 8:30 to 9:30 am in the commons where parents/guardians of middle school students will have the opportunity to talk to school and district representatives, as well as each other, not only about their family's educational experiences in District 97, but also the learning goals they have for their children going forward. If you have questions or need additional information about this event, please contact Principal Fitzgerald.
