  • This was a busy week of events as Prof. Chen Jian hosted a standing room only seminar about the British colonial legacy along the Sino-Indian Border;  Rodrigo Zeidan introduced Thomas DuBois, authors and historian, who spoke about China’s dairy industry; Dr. Adrian Thieret moderated a Center for Global Asia lecture on Putonghua; and, Zeidan closed the week by introducing a FilmFriday@Five screening of The Big Short.

  • On Thursday, students gathered around the Library to try their hand at Chinese calligraphy -- the first time for many in attempting Spring Festival scrolls.  

  • University officials confirmed "all is well" in the wake of the isolated electrical box fire incident earlier this week on the 13th floor of the Jinqiao Residence Hall. Following the incident in which no one was harmed, all campus facilities are being thoroughly inspected, in accordance with university protocols.

  • “Understanding how people travel through a city allows policymakers to make informed decisions about where to build housing, schools, and hospitals or where to improve transport infrastructure by building a dedicated bus lane or train,” said Prof. Eric Goldwyn at this Thursday’s Faculty Lunch Speaker Series, pointing, as an example,to the unmapped transit system in Bogotá, Colombia.
