Blessed are the Merciful

Matthew 5:7 says, "Blessed are the Merciful, for they shall obtain Mercy."

Mercy: Compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. A forgiving spirit. Non retaliating. Non vindictive.

The scripture says we are to exercise mercy. James 2:13 says in the last part of the verse that "Mercy triumphs over Judgment." The tendency today is to judge others with criteria that we would not judge ourselves. People make bad choices in life. Including us!! We need the mercy of God and we need mercy from others. Joseph showed mercy to his brothers, even after selling him and forsaking him. He realized that the Lord was in control! Jesus showed mercy to the adulterous woman and told her to go and sin no more. The mercy of God is everlasting. God does not have a short fuse. He is long-suffering toward us. We need to show the same mercy to others. There is a law of reciprocity in the scriptures. If we treat others the way we want to be treated, I believe that they will show mercy and kindness to us. Show some mercy today and see what happens!

This is a message about not allowing offenses to separate us and what it means to walk in covenant relationship.

Mission News

Pastor Dwayne Higgason and a team from Grace Temple in Hattiesburg, MS will be travelling to the Philippines and Cambodia February 26. We will be sharing at pastor's conferences in three cities in the Philippines and also outreach services in the evenings. We will be working with Pastor Joemarie Sulmaca. We then travel to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to work with the Hard Places Community. They help rescue young boys and girls who are involved in the human trafficking sex trade. Pastor Dwayne teaches self defense classes for the staff. We will also host a dinner for all our missionaries who serve in different ministries across the nation. Please pray for these travels.

Mission Trip Planned for July 9-17 to Lido, Italy. I need about seven or eight skilled men who would help Missionaries Samuel and Sarah Kigo refurbish a building that has been given to them for outreach. It needs electrical work (220), plumbing for a bathroom, a new drop ceiling, painting, flooring and clean up. The cost would be apporximately $2,400 per person depending on which airport you depart. This is a worthy couple from Kenya, who are giving their lives for the Kingdom. I also need to raise $6,500 to help pay for the materials needed. Richard Smith will be leading this team. He is a board member of International Outreach Ministries and a good friend. Please let me know if you are interested.

The last two years I have invited a few men to gather with me to seek the Lord and believe for an encounter with Him. It has truly been an awesome time. This year I have decided to open it up to others and see what the Lord will do. We will have several men teach each night Wednesday through Friday. On Thursday and Friday during the day, we will have small groups where there will not be an agenda or definitive teaching, but an opportunity to pray for each other. We want to give place to the Holy Spirit to speak to hearts and bring men to a new position in the Lord. I would love to have you join me.

I thought since we are about to celebrate Valentines Day, I would say how much I love my wife. Sharon and I have been married for 35 years. I know that I am a very easy person to live with. (Ha, Ha!) The truth is that I could not travel around the world and do what I do without her. She keeps things secure at home. Even with raising two girls and now Braxton, she continues to be a remarkable mother, grandmother and wife. I am thankful for her in every way. She still makes my heart sing!!. Love you my darling!!

Prayer

I had a wonderful time of prayer and fasting. Clayton Holloway, Curtis Costley and Earl Wright joined me as we sought the Lord. We prayed for a number of needs. We prayed for our country. We prayed for each other and the ministries we represent. Every year I do this, it gets better. The Lord speaks to us and gives us direction for the year. He brings peace to our lives. We always leave changed. I encourage you to take time to pray. Prayer does not just change the situation, it changes you!!

Now is the time and you are the one who can make a difference. You can partner with us to reach out to the people around the world. We can't change everyone, but we can make a difference in at least one life. Who knows how many that person will touch?
