Firefighter Spotlight: SLC Fire Executive Team
Leadership expert and author John C Maxwell said, "Leadership is not about titles, positions or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another." Nothing is more true in the fire service. The person to respond to a 9-1-1 call responds quickly and takes personal risks to help someone in need , not because of the title he or she holds, but rather because of the oath taken as a firefighter and first responder to prepare effectively, respond quickly and impact positively.
As such, the role of the Executive Team at Salt Lake City Fire is to create opportunities for all SLC Fire department members to perfect their skills and work as a team to provide exceptional care.
Under the direction of Chief Karl Lieb, the Executive Team is comprised of a deputy fire chief, an assistant chief over administration and an assistant chief over operations. In our first e-newsletter, we want to introduce you to them. Pictured above, left to right, is Assistant Chief Clair Baldwin, Administration; Deputy Chief Robert, "Rusty" McMicken; SLC Fire Chief Karl Lieb, and Assistant Chief Karl Steadman, Operations.
