Directors Report

What a start to the year for Trigg Island and I’m sure this is just the beginning leading in to the business end of the season, with only 10 weeks until Aussies kick off.
We have had numerous members away representing the state and the club producing some fantastic results and you should all be congratulated on this achievement. In Royal Life Saving we had 5 athletes go to Adelaide and come home with a swag of medals. In the ocean our senior athletes went Adelaide and our youth when to New South Wales. Both Senior and Youth teams place 3rd at their Interstate Carnivals behind Queensland and New South Wales.
The last of the Surf League is on this weekend at Sorrento and Trigg is showing their dominance once again. We have entered 3 teams this time round so get down in your green and white to support you team mates!
With lots coming up remember to check facebook for updates on all things competition.
Selection races are Club Champs Sunday the 4th March and Carnival 5 at Trigg Island 11th March. If you are not attending you need to let me know in advance not on the day!
Make Sure You get your Aussies Entries in ASAP!

Surf Life Saving WA Rise Up Camp 2018 Review

The camp is run by Surf Life Saving WA and supported by the Scottish Masonic Charitable Foundation of WA, the Rise Up camp provides an opportunity for youth members to develop their teamwork and leadership skills while also forging lasting inter-club friendships. Each club nominates representatives. One of Trigg's representatives was Bree Elliot. Read about Bree's experience of the camp below.
On Monday the 8th of January Danielle, Ryan, Amanda and I arrived at Surf House to depart on our adventure to Pemberton to take part in the 2018 Rise Up Camp. After 5 and a bit hours we arrived at the Pemberton Camp site. We set up our dorms and then we took part in the Paparazzi Challenge and then went for a swim. After dinner we began our ARTC course. Each day started with different morning fitness including scaling very tall walls, yoga, a push up competition and team activities. The activity rotations over the camp included mountain bike riding, a Pemberton Challenge and orienteering. We also went kayaking, rafting and participated in team building activities where we learnt more about each other. By the end of the camp we had completed our ARTC. On the bus ride home we were no longer strangers rather hopefully, life long friends with other surf life saving members from around the state. We came home tired as we had challenged ourselves and supported each other.
This camp was a personally rewarding experience.

Help needed - Rottnest Paddler Request

Hi fellow members...My paddler for Rottnest has had to drop out at this late stage for my Solo Swim. Is there anyone out there who can paddle for me?  I’m swimming with a 2nd experienced Rottnest Soloist as a tandem (ie. swim the entire way side by side).  Rottnest experience would be great, but experienced paddlers who want to be part of this fantastic event on Saturday 24 February 2018 for the first time would be very welcome! All Rottnest Island and return ferry costs (including kayak) will be covered.

Call or text Shaun on 0450 200 839 anytime!
