Dachshund of the Year 2017

We are grateful to Lynda Billinghurst for the DotY results and Alan Tyler for the pictures of the Winners (on our website, here).

Joanne Blackburn-Bennett’s CH STARGANG CHERRY BERRY was awarded DACHSHUND OF THE YEAR 2017. Runner-up was Morris and Judith Armstrong’s Ch Lauralee Nicholas Nickleby.
Veteran of the Year 2017 was Fran and Emily Mitchell’s CH Bronia Lotario; runner-up was Kim and Duncan McCalmont’s CH Silvae Mystic.
Winner of Dachshund Puppy of the Year 2017 was Roy Wood’s CH Wildstar Wrobinson JW; runner-up Cindy Dare’s Swansford Lionellador Darsoms.

Marita Rodgers was the judge.

Would you like to own this number plate?

Last year, Carley Denton raised money to support our IVDD Screening Programme. Now, she's offering her personalised number plate to the highest bidder, with the money again going to support IVDD Screening.
This will be a silent auction. Email your bid to info@dachshund-ivdd.uk. The highest bid received by midnight (UK) on Sunday 11th February 2018 will win SS09 AGE.

IVDD Screening - January special offer - update

Thanks to some amazing fundraising in 2017 we were able to offer 10 dogs the chance to be x-ray screened for IVDD at a discounted price of just £100. The normal price is £300 with a £100 subsidy. We were over-subscribed with applications last month but now have extra funds to extend this offer to 7 more dogs. We will contact those who were too late to catch last month's offer.
Your Dachshund is eligible if it is between 24 and 48 months old and you plan to breed from him/her.

It's the season for Breed Club Annual General Meetings and for renewing your membership subscriptions.
Please support your clubs by attending their AGM. It's your opportunity to find out what they have been doing over the past year and influence their future activities.

Walks against IVDD

Join "Walks Against IVDD" on their monthly walks to help fight against IVDD in our beloved Dachshunds. These virtual walks are open to ALL dog walkers, ANYWHERE in the country. Simply sign up for this month's challenge & share your #WalkAgainstIVDD pics to earn your rosette.
All profit from every entry (minus minimal running costs) is donated to research against IVDD. Let's put a STOP to this heartbreaking disease.

Frank's Auction

Christine Cummings sadly lost her 5 year old boy, Frank, after IVDD surgery in December. She makes ceramics and her dog Frank was quite a star on her Facebook page. Frank wasn’t insured and it cost £5k for his operation. Christine was overwhelmed by the support of other artists offering work towards an auction for his further treatment before he passed away. She had a beautiful painting by Victoria Coleman that was donated and decided to run an auction to raise funds for our IVDD Screening Programme. Frank's Auction raised £750 and we would like to thank Christine and her supporters, listed below, for their generosity:
