Reliant Motor Club

The Club for Owners and Enthusiasts of Britain’s finest specialist car manufacturer”

No 4. March 2017

H.R.H The Princess Royal

Welcome to our first newsletter for 2017, how the months are flying by. We are delighted that the Reliant Motor Club is continuing to go from strength to strength as a steady flow of new members continue to join us.  We felt very proud in January when H.R.H The Princess Royal accepted our invitation to become a Honorary member of the club.  H.R.H is a keen Reliant enthusiast having owned Scimitars, Kittens and Robins.  To date the Princess still owns a Middlebridge Scimitar.

H.R.H. The Princess Royal visited Reliant in July 1975.  We have added a page to our website detailing some of the files from our archives planning the occasion.  Please also check out our YouTube Channel that features a video of the Royal visit that was captured by the Reliant Cine Club.

Members all around the world
Although the RMC is only 9 months old we are already building up a list of members from around the world.  We now have members in Australia, France, Germany, India, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and the USA.   We welcome all new members and hope that you are finding membership of the RMC both enjoyable and interesting.

Supporting Reliant Clubs
One of the key aims of the RMC is to co-exist and work alongside other clubs and so we feel compelled to also thank the Reliant Sabre and Scimitar Owners Club, the Bug Club and the Kitten Register for all their encouragement and cooperation. They have demonstrated that a new club like the RMC can co-exist with other clubs and share resources.
Staffordshire Past Track
The Reliant Motor Club is always looking at new ways that we can share and distribute our archives with other organisations.  We are pleased to announce therefore that we are now working with the Staffordshire County Council Archives Department and providing Reliant related material for their Staffs Past Track web site.

Past Track first went online in 1999 and to date contains more than 30,000 resources and historical maps for the Staffordshire area.  It was as a result of Elvis Payne's 3-wheelers.com website that  Staffs Past Track visited Elvis' home in 2000 wishing to view his Reliant Archive so that Reliant images could be added.  With the introduction of the RMC we are continuing this connection and providing more material for Staffs Past Track.

You can visit the Staffs Past Track website here
RELIANT MOTOR CLUB REVIEW: No 1
Our first club magazine, the RELIANT MOTOR CLUB REVIEW was published in December 2016.  If you have not read it yet then please click here.

Your responses to our first magazine have been superb with more than one member expressing that the magazine alone is worth the membership fee that the RMC charges.  Thank you to everyone who contacted us to provide feedback.

Our next magazine is due in June 2017 and is already being prepared. If you have a story or anything you would like to share with club members via the magazine then please let us know.

Remember you can also view past newsletters. Please click here.
The RMC Document Library
One of our aims at the RMC is to scan as much of our archives as possible and move them online for RMC members to enjoy.  This month we will be adding a new Reliant Document Library to our website that will feature Press Releases, Notices, Letters, News items and much more.  It will contain numerous documents from all areas of Reliant history relating to employees, dealers and customers rather than just concentrating on the vehicles it manufactured.

With just over 410 documents currently available on the website, this new library will help us achieve our first goal of uploading 500 documents within our first year.  Please watch the website or follow us on Facebook or Twitter for the latest news of its arrival.
