Legislative Update - Good Week for Virginia Gun Owners
VSSA
It was a good week for Virginia gun owners in the General Assembly this week as more of Governor Northam's gun ban agenda was defeated in Senate and House of Delegate committees.  First on Wednesday, Senate Finance dispensed with a bill that would ban bump stocks (SB1), and a bill that would add private and public preschools and day care centers as places where firearms are banned (SB79).  READ MORE

Sensing opportunity to save lives: Virginia Tech graduate launches product to protect guns, valuables
Richmond Times Dispatch

His idea, conceived on a North Carolina beach a half-dozen years ago, evolved from creating an actual safe with smart technology to alert gun owners when someone messes with the weapon. Instead, he developed the Duo as a portable sensor that sends a message whenever someone intrudes on a protected area — a gun safe, a suitcase with valuables in a hotel room, a drawer filled with jewelry.  READ MORE

First Look: Samson Manufacturing S&W Shield Pocket Comp
Shooting Illustrated
Newton's Third Law, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction," is inescapable, and the less mass there is in a 9 mm carry pistol, the more shooters will feel the energy from that shot. Skill Set: Take Cover
The Tactical Wire
Cover provides you with protection against the threat, and is only cover relative to what type weapon they are using.  If someone is trying to hit you with their hands or an impact weapon or cut you, then an object that prevents the threat from getting within arm’s reach provides protection.  Against a firearm you’ll need an object that “stops, impedes or redirects bullets.”  Cover prevents you from being injured, and yet under stress most people don’t use it. Ruger's LC9s has been a popular concealed-carry option for consumers, particularly after the striker upgrade that marked the evolution from the LC9 to the LC9s, giving consumers a trigger pull more similar to other striker-fired pistols on the market. In 2018, Ruger updated the design yet again to produce the all-new EC9s.  The new Ruger EC9s is built to be budget-friendly while still providing all of the essentials needed for a solid personal-defense pistol. The gun uses iron sights integrally machined into the slide and features a striker-fired action with a built-in trigger safety.  For all the details on the new Ruger EC9s, check out the video above.

The VSSA War Chest Needs You!
This year will be jam packed with legislative and political activities.  The Virginia Shooting Sports Association War Chest is the fund used to pay our legislative lobbying costs.  We also supply support to candidates for public office who share our views on the right to keep and bear arms by informing our members when campaigns need volunteers for various activities.  Member dues contribute only a small part to this cost.  VSSA members have always been generous in supporting the War Chest, and a number of members have already made donations for this year.  Over the last few years, donations to the War Chest have fully supported the legislative efforts of the Association.  Those interested in helping continue VSSA's legislative success can make a donation by clicking here.  Thanks to our members for your past support.  VSSA could not have been as successful as we have been without you.
