Center for Rural Health Gets $2.2M Opioid Grant

The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and the Arizona Department of Health Services will collaborate to train first responders to recognize opioid overdoses and administer naloxone, a drug used to counter the effects of opioid overdose and save lives.

Dr. Drazen, editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Medicine, will discuss data sharing in clinical trials. He is the invited speaker for the James E. Dalen, MD, MPH, Distinguished Lecture for Health Policy, Feb. 8 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, Drachman Hall, Room A114.

Environmental Health Sciences Program Receives $5,000 Grant for Students

The Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health received a $5,000 grant from the Terracon Foundation to support graduate students pursuing degrees in environmental and occupational health and industrial hygiene.

NIEHS | Paloma Beamer, environmental engineer and associate professor at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, is passionate about building partnerships and trust with the communities in which she works. Her research is helping reveal the importance of culture and behavior in determining exposure risks for specific communities.
