Thanks to a private donor and the Jaycees of the Quad Cities, two of our Big & Tall men at Shelter have wonderfully warm coats to wear! Mona at the Corner Closet said Brad was grinning ear to ear as he put it his coat. He was happy to show it off for the camera!
Terry started crying when he received his coat. He'd been certain he'd be forgotten since there were so many in need...he was all smiles once the tears stopped!
Many thanks to these donors for their help. And thanks to all donors who helped our participants during this extreme winter!
In January, Emily Harvey, Executive Director of HMHI & HMSI enlightened a public gathering of more than 300 people about the reality of homelessness as it exists in the Quad Cities:
[excerpt] "Last year the Davenport Public Schools knew of at least 200 children who were homeless and were still enrolled in school and trying to attend every day."
Thank you to all who supported the Have A Heart for the Homeless Luncheon. On February 3rd, 179 supporters of Humility of Mary Housing and Shelter and Christian Care came together...click here for details of this event!
