It's that time of the year! Wellington JETAA's AGM is a time for all JET alumni to get together over some tasty Japanese food and decide the direction that JETAA will take throughout the next year.
RSVP by Monday 12th March to lock in your seat and $20 meal subsidy!

A JETAA Wellington exclusive! Come out and enjoy a lesson with the makers of Wellington's best sushi: Helen and Yoshi Kono. They'll be teaching us at their new Press Hall store. At this class, you'll learn how a traditional maki sushi roll and an uramaki reverse roll.
Cost for the class is $10 and we're limited to only 15 places so reach out to us on the Facebook event page or via email to RSVP.

For those who cannot attend the JETAA Jkaiwa in the city, the Hutt Minoh House Friendship Trust is now hosting its own Japanese conversation exchange every month in the Lower Hutt! Meetings are on the second Thursday of the month, and feature both conversation classes for Japanese speakers and introduction classes for those who'd like to start learning.

Need some Japanese practice for that test? Trying to stop your Japanese language skills from getting rusty? Just kind of in the mood to get your Japanese chat on? RSVP for the March JKaiWa! Anyone with at least basic Japanese language ability is welcome. Classes are typically held on the second or third Thursday of every month.

Time: 6:00pm – 7.30pm
Place: Japan Information and Cultural Centre, Level 18, Majestic Centre, 100 Willis Street.

Want to try something new? Make new friends? Have a New Years resolution to get fit and want to have fun doing it? Come and try Japanese Taiko Drumming! Wellington's own Narukami Taiko is having an open day where you can come learn traditional Japanese drumming! No drumming or music experience necessary. Beginners and all ages welcome (although you might want earplugs for the little ones)! Entry is by donation.

On the last Tuesday and Thursday of every month from 6:00 PM, the Japan Information & Cultural Centre hosts a free Japanese movie screening at the Embassy of Japan on the 18th floor of the Majestic Centre. It's a great chance to catch some hand-picked Japanese films that may not have been released outside of Japan. There will also be some videos about various Japanese topics starting at 5:45. This month's film is Makoto Shinkai's Children Who Chase Lost Voices.
Date: Tuesday 27th and Thursday 29th March
Time: 6:00pm (Japan topics videos shown from 5:45)
Place: Japan Information & Cultural Centre, Level 18, The Majestic Centre

JETAA Wellington's events and resources are only possible thanks to the heroic efforts of our alumni volunteers. At this month's Annual General Meeting, we'll be deciding who will fulfill the various roles needed to keep the committee going, so if you're interested, feel free to reach out to us!
The roles are open to all JET alumni in the Wellington area and include:
- President
- Vice-President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Communications Manager
- Events Coordinator
- Taiyaki Machine Manager
- JkaiWa Liaison
