Second month into the year and we face being bombarded with Valentine’s gifts and ideas for the month of February all over our social media platforms and in the shops! So much to say about this, quite a bit of controversy, both sides of the spectrum to consider from the romantics to the not so romantics, yet, what needs reminding more so than what to buy or do for our beloveds, is the love we have and give for ourselves. Ah, now there’s a thought…. A thought and a deed that is far more essential than showing our measure of love for someone with a tangible gift.
Indeed, our immeasurable love for someone, whether family, friend or spouse can be demonstrated with affection, with kindness with thoughtful gestures and selfless acts, this is far more valuable than a commercial gimmick, however authentic love which bears no conditions is beyond measure and can be truly given and felt when we know how to love ourselves, wounds and all. Yes, wounds, not faults…wounds and all the good stuff!
You are equally deserving of your own love before feeling validated by other’s love. So be sure to gift yourself the gift of self-love and self-care first and foremost, not just during the ‘month of love’ but always. Once you do with acceptance of all that is, all other authentic and deep love will flow into and expand in your life. These are the best gifts of love one could receive and these can all transform, manifest and evolve on the mat with the loving energy of Yoga.
