Family Day
Join us for a sensory adventure at our polar sensory family day! Have the chance to handle objects, try some experiments and see colour in a whole different light.
Have a go at ice carving, and view 'Stasis', a large scale ice and steel sculpture by artist Melissa Pierce Murray. Last, but not least, take part in one of our whale song workshops with marine ecologist Annette Scheffer.
Saturday 24th March, 10.30am - 3.30pm. No need to book. Drop in activities throughout the day.

Climate Hack
Over three days, teams of makers, scientists, artists and communicators were invited to develop prototypes to showcase our museums' narratives on climate change.

Ireland's Antarctic Explorers
To celebrate St Patrick's Day, award winning journalist, Michael Smith, recounts Ireland's significant role in almost every noteworthy episode of Antarctic exploration. The Friends of SPRI invite you to join them as Michael recalls some fascinating and unfamiliar stories about the unique Irish link to Antarctica.

Artist in Residence
The Friends of SPRI / One Ocean Expeditions Artist in Residence Programme, sponsored by Bonhams, is now open to applications for an artist to join their vessel, the Akademik Sergey Vavilov, for a two week placement during the Arctic summer season in September 2018.

A new book by SPRI Lecturer Richard Powell, Studying Arctic Fields: Cultures, Practices and Environmental Sciences, examines the social dynamics of the polar scientific community and their interactions with logistical staff and Inuit.
